Hi mate I have a 2006 Carrera 2. Ive had it a couple of months but it needs service around xmas time. It has done 9000 milesORIGINAL: davidcross
ive yet to get my 997s serviced but i wouldnt think supplying oil will make any difference to the cost of the seervice as its all part of what they charge im sure. i have done circa 1500 miles since getting my 997s and have only added half a litre of oil...the best place to buy it apparently is from costco as they do it cheaper in bulk. whats the details of your car?? have u had it long? what model did u get???
Is that all you need 5 litres? Seems like there is a big saving to be made by supplying my own oil? Thanks anywayORIGINAL: chrismouzou
had my 997 cab serviced in april 05 cost for oil plus vat £130 ,macro 5or4ltrs £28.00 or speak to region 20 kish cheaper in europe

You can indeed supply your own oil.. many do and Costco seems the cheapest.
You should get a discount from the OPC on your service, however check prior as some are a bit tight offering it.[]
Some will do it on the bill whilst others only on parts used, for an annual service thats not alot of parts.
Majority of the time you can save your at least your membership costs via the service discount []

I am with Gary on this - as some of you know I've done an average of 50k miles in each of my 3 previous Porsche's. The current one is up from purchase mileage of 1760 to approx 9k miles already
They are there to be driven not just looked at.
Since getting mine from on OPC in March I have clocked 7000 glorious miles and us it every day. I kept my 996 as a low mileage garage queen for years and go no more for it than if it had double the mileage.
To hell with residuals - use them and enjoy.
