Servicing a 2001 Boxster S

I have just bought my car and totally love it but I admit to being a bit shocked by the service price for the 48000miler. (My car has only done 37000 thank God) all in it would seem to be about £1000 at OPC.

Is there well regarded specialists in the Glasgow area? What are prices like in comparison.

Is it worth going to OPC?

For a car that age, unless you particularly want to put/keep a warranty on it, I would head for a decent specialist. Can't help around Glasgow though.

Where do you get £1000 from? The actual service is around half that..the rest you can either do yourself (with help from this forum[;)]) or get an indy to do it......

You should give Pete Lorimer at Lorimer and Findlay a shout. 0141 950 6688.
I have dealt with him for nearly 20 years when he changed the clutch on an E-type I had (them were the days!)
I wouldn't say he is cheap but he generally knows what he is talking about. At least that's what he tells me...

Oh, and isnt' the 48000 miler one of the "BIG" services? - I got my boxster having already had that one done, though it was because of age not mileage (27000 at the time). This forum should give advice.

You don't need the 48,000 mile service because of age. It goes on milage.

For a 2001 model you can have an "Annual Check" if you have done less then 9000 miles in the year, I had my 48,000 mile service done this year - I have a 2001.
I've had a couple of annual checks, 2 x 12,000, 1 x 24,000 and the 48.000 mile services.

There are some time-based service items. The brake fluid (every 2 years), spark plugs (4 years) Airbag check (every 4 years) but most items are milage based.

Perhaps I should have been a little clearer:

The 48k service was done by the previous owner by the local OPC, at age 6 years.
My model is a 2000 2.7

Whether it needed done or not I sure saved money!
