Do I get a prize?

Hi, I can understand why you'd want to do the service yourself to save money, but I would guess this could seriously reduce the worth of your vehicle? A full service history is critical when trying to sell your car in order to get its worth. Maybe its worth getting a valuation of the car with and without the service stamp to see whether you're really saving money in the long term?

hope this helps.

Someone give a lollipop to this man !

Deep Sigh!

yes I forgot my original name and reregistered as lots of technical difficulties cropped up!

No prize it wasn't that complicated to understand surely???

Ok on to is it worth it??

I just got my Merc back and the overall quote from admitadly a great garage was just under £1700!! Minor and major...ish bits!

So a '98 C2... With a full stamped history would be worth??

By getting it done NON OPC .. I save .. LOTS OF CASH!

potentially get a better job done .. see other posts on OPC'S ...!!

and the value of the car is reduced by??

Difficult one to answer exactly but ........................

Personally, I'd take it to a non-OPC but Porsche specialist. That way, you don't de-value the car but save £££ on the non-OPC prices.

So, you need to compare the cost of reputable porsche specialist against the cost of doing it yourself and then factor into account time spent/hassle factor less the amount of money lost when come to resale.

The latter is going to be difficult to assess as it will depend on miles done, condition of car etc. Bearing in mind its already a 10 year old car with - in terms of resale value - less desirable options such as tip and savannah.

How dare you! [:D] [:D]

Martin is right about servicing - take it to a Porsche Specialist and get the book stamped. I think you'll find it difficult to sell without, no matter how good your mechanic friend is.
