Hi,

First post here but wondering if anyone could help with my first service at OPC.
Car registered 28/4/99
Yearly/Minor 12/4/00 at 10560 miles
Yearly/Minor 23/3/01 at 16387
Yearly/Major 8/11/01 at 28765
Yearly/Minor 30/9/02 at 34159
Yearly/Minor 24/10/03 at 52983
Yearly/Minor 11/10/04 at 61991

Currently running at 67974 miles (so only done 6000 miles since my ownership in november 2004)
I've read earlier posts regarding servicing and it seems that maybe the last one at 11/10/04 should have been Major? Vehicle is 1999 2.5 boxster
Otherwise am I looking at a Yearly/Major service due now?
Any help much appreciated.
Dan

I would definately do a major now, and check for any items like spark plugs or polyrib replacement. Check your service manual for these.

I thought a Major would be due but was suprised to see the OPC would allow the previous owner to miss a Major service in 2003? Is this normal as I have a fully stamped up OPC service book.

Thanks again for any help.

OPC will let you have a low mileage service if you have done less mileage every year (i.e. less than 9K in that year), they will recommend you have the full service for that year/mileage but at the end of the day the choice is yours and since the difference in price is some £400 (between major and annual low mileage), I suspect the previous owner went for the cheaper option. Also keep in mind the log book will show a low mileage annual check as a minor service; the receipts will tell you whether it was a minor or low mileage service.

Also check that the brake fluid was changed last year; needs to be changed every 2 years.

It's very hit and miss I'm afraid.

Porsche don't help by changing the service intervals for specific items almost every year.

JCB..

Depends on circumstances I'd guess.

My car was due a 48k service in June this year with a mileage of around 18k....however because I had a replacement engine fitted which was 7 months old and had covered 5K miles (at time of due service) the OPC suggested carrying out a minor service - they saw little point in changing expensive plugs, belts etc.

Nice OPC attitude...and without prejudice to the warranty!

Sounds more like an "Annual Check" to me?[&:]

No, minor service according to invoice. What would be the difference...and what does the blue screwed up face smiley mean?![;)]
