Hi all,
Given the stunning weather today not expecting a quick response on this question - hopefully you are all out enjoying your cars, but I have a question re servicing.
Car is a Boxster 2.7 bought end March 08 with 24K on the clock (Car registered Jan 06), when I bought the car I was told by the salesman that the car had recentely been serviced and would be good for two years motoring.
A couple of weeks after having the car I noticed that the service book had never been updated and whilst at the dealer getting a wind deflector rattle sorted I had them update the service book - at the time I put the book back in the wallet and forgot about it.
Today the car is telling me that it needs servicing shortly and low and behold there is the letter from the local dealership in my in tray saying the car needs servicing.
So out comes the service book and in fact the car was serviced August 2007 as it had covered 20K miles in the first 20 months.
My issue is that the car has now only covered approx 7K miles since I have owned it and if the dealer are to be believed the car needs a major service even though it is not four years old nor having covered 40K miles per the service book. The argument is that it is 2 years since it was last serviced.
The car is on finance lease with Porsche and I want to avoid having a problem with them regarding service history should i not keep the car next year but at the same time don't want to cough up unnecessarily for a service the car really doesn't need.
I would welcome some thoughts from other drivers on which is the correct path here
Many thanks
Paul
