Servicing / Repairs - West Sussex

Guys,

I can't find these guys listed on the Servicing Section, so wanted to give them a mention as they have done a good job.

I recently bought my 911 SC and had a few technical problems. I took it to a 'specialist' to get it fixed and they didn't fix it, just masked the problem.

With my fingers burnt I called Addspeed in Horsham. Their receptionist answered and was very well clued up. Keith (the main man) called me back to discuss the problem and they picked my car up the following Monday.

Car was picked up from my office at 11 and back to me the same day by 4 all fixed. Addspeed delivered the car back all hoovered out and only charged an hour and a halfs labour.

The other garage (a 'specialist in Porsche's) said they didn't know what it was but suggested a whole list if things that MIGHT help. and cost me a fortune without any promise it would work!

I drive a Golf V6 4Motion as my everyday car so deal with a main dealer for that. I have to say that the level of service at Addspeed was above that....really impressed (no I'm not on commison)

If you live in West Sussex it may be worth checking them out at www.addspeed.co.uk

I agree with Bones, definately shame the specialist - if they aren't doing a good job we need to know. Spending a fortune on problems which should cost less to rectify, is a nightmare - we all need a 'specialist' we can trust as the word 'Porsche' seems to add ££££££'s to our bills some people.

Also as I live near you I would be even more interested to know who the 'Bad Guys' are.

Oh, OK then...............didn't know if it was the done thing.

Intaporsh of Sayers Common.

I know a lot of people trust them and go back there, but I have to say, I wasn't impressed with the fact that they didn't even think about it being the Sensor Plate that needed centralising. I believed the speal on the website. When I took it back they spent 15 minutes wiggling the air box and tutting. Told me I may need a new air box and should have the injectors cleaned, but even that might not fix the fault. How come Addspeed sorted it and got the car back in a couple of hours?

Even over the phone, Addspeed come across so much better, I'd happily pay a little extra to have confidence in the people working on my car and to not have to pay out twice to get the problem fixed!

Intaporsh were meant to phone me yesterday to book my car back in............he hasn't bothered. If you do use Intaposh please don't take offence - this is my personal opinion based upon my own dealings with them.

Air/ fuel problems aren't easy to diagnose but as you say wiggling the air box and tutting doesn't improve customer confidence. There are a number of likely causes and in your case that wouldn't be an easy fault to spot so even more brownie points for Addspeed. I don't deal with firms that don't phone back, if that's how much respect they have for their customers they don't get my custom.

Richie,

My feelings exactly.

I have had a 'non' experience with intaporsh too, when I first bought my car - within about my two months my clutch went, after saving money up to have the job done, I searched around the local area to find someone I could go to for the first time (before I joined the forum I might add)

So I gave intaporsh a try, and was quoted about £600 for a new clutch to be fitted, a front wheel bearing & and a full service, which I didn't think was too bad. So I booked the car in. Whilst the engine was out of the car I was invited to come down to see some of the other parts that had to be replaced, which I thought was quite good.(The clutch fork was one such part, it had split - which incedently I was told by the mechanic he hadn't ever seen before and even though in the Bentley Service Manual it warns you to check this when changing a clutch)

When I eventually got the car back the jobs had been compleated, but I was informed that the rear wheel bearing was the one making the noise (even though they had changed the front anyway) along with a bill for nearly £1400! []Oh, and by the way we dont accept credit cards, cash or cheque only (you can only have the car back once the cheque has cleared) nice, trying to find an extra £800 at sort notice (I think thats what parents are there for though[:D]) Also they had cut off the bracket for the air pump, along with some extra parts 'I didn't need' and welded up the air pipe underneath - without asking me, or giving me the parts back (Can't believe I didn't ask for them now - You live an learn I suppose)

The clutch is still okay a year on, so I suppose the job they performed was okay but I will not be using them again as they left me feeling like I had been taken for a bit of a ride.

I now use PARR in Godstone, who I am very impressed with the small amount of work I have had done with them so far - but more that, its nice to find someone you feel you can trust what they say.
