Servicing

Hi

If a car has an official Porsche Approved used warranty, does it have to have its services carried out at an OPC, in order for the warranty to remain valid?

What about service additions such as brake fluid, spark plugs etc, or can a Porsche specialist carry out these things?

Many thanks

Tan

The manufacturers warranty means it has to be serviced to Porsche approved procedures and parts- block exemption stops them from insisting that they 'have' to do it..

From my understanding with the extended warranty then they need to see a service stamp in the book... extras like brake and fluids I'd look for alternatives... however I'm always surprised by my OPC service department to come up trumps on cost.

The Block exemption does not apply to extended warranties. It's an insurance contract (not a manufacturer's warranty) that you chose to enter into on their terms. If you like the terms you enter into the contract (and are subsequently bound by their rules) if you don't you go elsewhere.

You cannot let anyone else touch your car for anything, that includes putting in lightbulbs, armourfend, wipers, oil etc. If they find out (and are so inclined to play by the book) they can throw away any warranty claim. You may have a case against them if they claim changing a bulb has invalidated your claim for a blown engine, but good luck taking them to court.

Obviously poorly written post by me.[:(]. as thats what I thought I was saying...
I've added a space to try and seperate the different warranties, as Rdney is correct in what he is saying...

Hi Gary,

Sorry didn't mean to repeat what you were saying, it was the

'extras like brake and fluids I'd look for alternatives' which confused me.[8D]
