shame

For the first time I've read some of the emails in the 'general' section.
And its a reason I've not really been posting. Every time I read posts about information that interests me (i.e. Porsches - what else) Its all about boring political crap which has spilt over into all forums. How Sad.
Even when you read an email which sounds interesting... either its trying to pull you over to the rival site or attacking the political crap which is going on.
8 months ago we (912s) was a hubb of activity which put all the other Forums to shame.

I hope you guys have a good time in France.

David

Anyway... Gavin - when r we going to get pissed again!

David,

It IS frustrating. I think this only goes to highlight the 'community' that the 912 register has attempted to encourage within PCGB. This has been evident from the spirit of the various events of the last few years, the forum and the web-site (and in no small part to the motivation of the register secretary!). So, while we might sometimes 'appear' the Minardi's of the Porsche world fighting for our space in the paddock, the fun factor is undiminished.

Now... for the sake of not contributing to a political rant... who wants to hear about removing my rear brake calipers on Sunday?... Well, it all started when...

See you all in France!

I hate to think that I may be responsible for the implosion of certain parts of this forum into a pointless cat fight - I don't think so as I stated from the start that DDK was purely to offer more for the Classic enthusiast and should never be seen as an either/or decision. Unfortunately the way in which some PCGB officials decided to act and the passion that some DDK members voice on here may tarnish us with the wrong motives.

The 912 forum has always been the most interesting, least politically motivated and friendliest which as Stuart says is partly down to the enthusiastic secretary.

There does seem to be a lot of pent up anger towards PCGB at the moment which is a shame but if it brings change for the better than maybe it should be embraced. We certainly have not looked to fuel this and a good few in the General Discussion area have their own agendas for whatever reasons - censoring them will just create more angst.

Anyway, ramble over.

To conclude [:D] 912 owners put the rest to shame, 9 out of 10 people interviewed said they are nicer people and that Porsches should have always remained with 4 cylinders [;)]

Have to say that when I joined this forum (which was admittedly not that long ago) I used to read pretty much everything but now I pretty much confine my reading to the 912 forum and the Classic and Heritage forums, both seem pretty friendly and are more about what I'm interested in. I've had loads of invaluable advice from Gavin and the rest of the 912 guys and hope that continues. Just seems a shame that the rest of the forum and especially the general discussion area seems to be so full of heated debate which is often verging on the personal. There seems to be a lot of chasing of tails between various people and club officials which doesn't really make for pretty reading and detracts from the whole point of an enthusiasts forum. I'll continue to take part here as I think there is a lot of valuable knowledge and experience available particularly in this forum. Keep up the good work Team 912.

I hope that was not aimed at me. I am sure it was not but if it was this is what I am doing and why
I will still be looking on this side of the forum the 912 side I have zero/zip/nil interest on any other part of the forum. I am as Gav and I have spoken about it. I will always be in the middle I do enjoy the DDK site and it is what we all needed but it is a shame that we couldn't have it over here . Any way I respect the hard work that Gaving has done in taking on the board to get as far as we have. I will still be a part of it all over here and will post here on the 912 site. Any comments were aimed at the board and not to any thing else

Afterall we all met up on this site and it still has the best bunch of Porsche guys I have met ,just we are on two sites now.

Any way like you said lets get back to the cars that's what it's all about.[:D]
