Had to go and fill up today shell v max at my local petrol station enquired why they where 5p a litre dearer than shell garage in wembley no reply to my question but informed me petrol went up by 1p today and they did not reduce price after budget-rip off

Is that blend of Optimax and V Power then Chris?[:D]
Prices just seem to vary depending on how far the nearest competition is away?

Chris
We have 2 Shell station only about 2miles apart and they swap from which one cheaper. ony about 1p different though..
Tesco 99ron was the same cost as V-power recently!! [&:]

I've discovered relativly recently that my 968 is much happier on 99ron, whether it's Tesco or V power, so will continue with that. Amusingly, I accidentally put 3/4 tank of V power diesel in the C270 last Sunday - and seen better mpg since (normal useage was about 44-45mpg, Somerset to home after tank up was 48mpg, Milton Keynes and back on Monday, not hanging about, 52mpg on Monday!). I'm tanking up the C270 again tomorrow with normal Shell diesel, will be interesting to see what I get on Friday doing the run to Milton Keynes and back on that!

Don't worry, the chancellor has promised to come down hard on filling stations not passing in the savings. What I suggest is that when you fill up at the "Dick Turpin Service Station" with, say, 50 litres, insist on paying 50 pence LESS than the price shown on the pump. When the police finally get involved, tell them you have the backing of Dave, George and Nick.....they should then proceed to take the retailer to task and send you on your way.

Tip - do it when you fill up something other than the Porsche, as you might lose the sympathy of the queue behind you.

I just wish I was brave enough to do this myself......let us know how you get on.

Yes, very funny Chris![:D]

But the real point is that it is impossible to check because there is no national price for a litre of petrol, the outlets are generally not owned by the fuel companies but privately owned and, like any retailer in any business, will charge what they think they can sell it for to cover their costs and make a profit. The Chancellor's words were but smoke and mirrors.

I have noticed Tesco has been more expensive than Shell for the last couple of weeks in Milton Keynes - AND you only get half the Clubcard points you used to. Pointless going to Tesco at the moment - particularly as people say v power is better than Tesco 99, although personally I've never had a problem with it.

I miss BP Ultimate 102. Not the easiest to find and certainly not cheap! Knowing how expensive it was I can see why it was dropped.

Agreed - the sentiment was admirable and it was a good bit of PR for the government in these "difficult" times, but clearly, it is IMPOSSIBLE to enforce.

458 Italia? It's a brave man who drives one of those with a full tank of fuel.........maybe the high consumption is a safety feature?
