Shell Vpower ++++

Gary, where does it say it's 100Ron? The pump I filled up at today in Glasgow said VPower Nitro 99Ron, although the 99 was on a separate, albeit new, sticker so guess the sticker could be old stock.

99 Octane with 25% more friction modifiers - apparently. On sale in Bristol @ £1.429

Filled up yesterday with this stuff oppisite Bristol Porsche Centre on Cribbs Causeway.

I thought our cars can only take a max 98 and therefore the extra octane is not to any benefit?

It is of benefit but mostly foe the cleaning an d responsiveness. the Turbo's and GT3's will get marginally more' power

First Tank full for my Goodwood track day on Tuesday- did the business but only lasted the morning at 14 mpg[:(][:(]

[FONT=Trebuchet MS"]Above a certain octane you won't gain bhp on a standard 911 but the engine will run smoother. Filled up with 105 octane once (Silverstone). Cost a fortune, no difference in performance but engine ran smoother. That was in a 996 GT3.[FONT=verdana,geneva"]

The engine will produce more power with higher octane fuel, but requires remapping to achieve this.

The higher the octane the more efficient the "burn", allowing the ignition to be advanced before pre-ignition (pinking) sets in. This produces more power.

Clive.

Tried some Nitro today, paid 140.9 a litre in Northamptonshire, what's it like price wise elsewhere??

Can't say the car felt any different but on s steady run of 88 miles each way to North London my C4S returned 26.2 mpg.

I was very restrained, not normal for me, but very enjoyable all the same.

I've done a couple of runs since filling with the new V-Power for the first time and so far the MPG is actually worse than on the cheap stuff. This is contrary to my previous experience with V-Power.
