She's a Turbo again

You may remember on Monday I ordered a few bits from Exeter, well they arrived yesterday morning and today I have stuck them on and finally LIL's arse is back to being a Porsche and a Turbo once more (she also has a new tailgate lock grommet [8|])

She also has the under sill trims refitted on the drivers side, but annoyingly [] three of the studs on the passenger side have been knocked off (presumably by the bodyshop) so I can't fit it securely. Don't know what to do now [&:] Can new studs be welded or bonded on without ruining the fresh paint on the outside of the sill/quarter panel?

Nothing is ever straight forward eh? [8|]

Nice!!
New bits are lovely, and as you know i have a weakness for new stickers and badges!!![:D]

No nails, who'd know.

I was going to suggest Sickaflex or similar bodyshop mastic, which is the same idea.

I think I'll try bonding some studs on first and see how they hold up. Luckily it's only 3 out of the 8 but unfortunately two of them are together at the back. What's the worst that can happen? It'll come off at high speed taking the other studs with them and gouge into my new paintwork as it flaps around before striking the brand new Aston that I'd just overtaken [:(]

It's best to look on the bright side or something similar :ROFLMAO:

Next on my LIL list is an uprated clutch kit as the Cup clutch now can't hold the close to 500ftlbs of torque at 18psi. A 930 disk and KEP 2 pressure plate are about to wing their way from Paragon in the US. It is rated to 700ftlbs by KEP and the standard 930 disk is supposed to have good feel without being on/off in operation. Pedal should feel about 30-40% heavier though (so should feel similar to my very old clutch on the S2).

...and then a drainpipe for an exhaust to release the full potential of that monster engine?![;)]

She's looking great Paul. For next time just remember to avoid the tyre wall! They may look nice and soft but looks are deceiving!

Drainpipe? With that power I think it needs something with the diameter of a dustbin!

I'm seriously tempted by Donington on Friday 31st October that some of the other boys are already booked on but being fiscally sensible I ought to wait until next year. The piggybanks are still very low after paying for the respray and I'm having the clutch changed next week as well [&o]

Had some success today [:)]

I decided to test bond some plastic screws under the sill with a hot glue gun. It appears to have worked perfectly, very solid and robust. One of them is slightly wonky so the sill trim doesn't line up perfectly but I'll warm the glue up and reposition it at a later date (it's dark now and I have a local drive out tomorrow morning).

Thanks to Lee (Lemon) I also won an Ebay auction for a wheel arch liner last week which I have also fitted today, and it also enabled me to refit the M030 brake ducting at the same time. I am now one happy bunny [:)] and looking forward to an early start watching the Grand Prix followed by a drive to see some shiny exotica at a local dealership http://www.dovehousecars.com/

Hi Paul

I too need to sort some extra fixings for my sill trims. Would love some pics and sizes of plastic screws you used and a brief explanation of how it went. What glue gun do you use etc.

Did the original nuts screw onto your plastic screws?

Glad inner arch turned out well, all coming together now.

Cheers

Lee
