She's coming home, she's coming home...!!

Well, after too much time and too much money (now there's a surprise![8|]) my new 964 is coming home today! It's getting MOt'd at lunchtime and then (all being well) I'll be picking it up after that.

She has a nice shiny new engine (yes, the top end rebuild developed somewhat [8|]) and various shiny new bits, such as front oil cooler, braided brake hoses, RS flywheel/clutch etc etc.

Just got to run her in for 800 miles or so and then I can explore the new motor's potential.

Had a brief run around near Unit 11 yesterday, and she sounds fab with the cat mod and cup pipe. Now running RS ride height and similar geometry, so feels nice and 'pointy' but still less stiff and crashy than that old 944t of mine.

Can't wait now!

About time too [:)]

Are you going to get the 800 miles done by Curborough? [;)]

Oh...and don't forget to tell us when you get the first oil drip. [:D]

Hmm, well you know the old 911 adage of "well, whilst the engine's out/in bits we might as well..."??!

Aiming to have the engine run in and oil change/tappets adjusted by end of month, so Curborough is a definite!

Done 65 miles since picking it up on friday, and still dry underneath...[8|][:D]

That's a bit unfair-my son tells me that he hasn't got an undertray & you might recall from his previous posts, that his garage floor is carpeted, so oil deposition ist verboten.

BTW what cat mod did you go for? Full bypass or something else?

Danny cut the cat open, removed half of the cells and then welded it up again - allegedly this way you get to retain some back pressure and thus low down torque but it also frees up the flow enough to give you top end benefits, once remapped.

Somewhat lighter than stock cat too.

Oh and it sounds nice too[;)]

Sounds an interesting idea...might have to look into that when mine goes in. Mind you once he's opened it up he'll just be able to tip out the bits that are rattling around [:D]

That's the undertray nearly filled then! [:D]

[:D][:D] She's gone commando!

Well, you know what they say about 911/964/993 engines, if its not leaking, there's probably no oil in it [&:]

Just got mine back form it's BIG service, luckly nothing too serious and wallet only mildly lightened (compared with what I was expecting), mind you next year will be rather more pianful []

Had an oil leak from the rocker cover sorted and now seems pretty dry & I'm pretty sure there is plenty of oil in it too!
