These are some pictures of my shiny cabriolet exhaust tip after its visit to a local metal polisher.
Anyway, having found that the fold-back tip on the 1993 (but 1992 built) cabriolet was bigger than the 94 coupe version (so the Porscheshop 944 slip-over stainless sleeve did not fit) I bought a non fold over tip from Porscheapart - only to find it was about 1/4" smaller both ways than the one on my 94 coupe. Then I met Mick the metal polisher at the local(ish) steam fair a couple of weeks ago.
Tonight I collected my fold-back exhaust tip from him - now polished and shiny mirror finish, looks absolutely fantastic. As I suspected, the tip (like the rest of the exhaust) is stainless steel, and it's polished up beautifully. For £25 including return recorded delivery postage, Mick will do the same to your exhaust tip - somewhat cheaper than the Porscheshop slip-over! You'll find him at www.metalpolishingkent.co.uk. He does a lot more than just 968 exhaust tips!
He's in Wye, near Ashford, so you'd need to remove the tip and post it to him - mine came off quite easily. I gave the clamp a good soak of WD40 then cut the M8x70mm bolt and bought a SS replacement (including nut and washers) from www.boltmeup.com.
