Shocks need replacing

Hi guys,
I need 4 new shocks for the 944 2.7.
My immediate thought was to keep it as original as possible and fit stock parts.
Someone I work with has, today, suggested using an upgraded shock, such as Spax, as it would bring with it the latest improvements.
Any thoughts on this?
Would it affect the value of the car if it doesn't have stock parts?

**I appear to have posted this in the wrong area, sorry!**

Do you want to keep the car at the standard ride height, or are you into the lowering set

spax will require you to lower your car

the only other two options are billlies or konis

I'd keep it at the correct ride height. I've found Boge on GSF well priced. I'm just having trouble finding front shocks and springs. What would you suggest?

Thanks Waylander.
So Boge would be ok for the rear? I can get both rears for £100 at the moment.
I was hoping to find the whole thing for the fronts rather than inserts.
How reasonable are Porsches prices for springs?

I went for Koni inserts in front and matching "sport' shocks in the rear. Due to "promotions" it was less money to go Koni all around. I wouldn't mix brands. Given that your S (like my S2) does not have replaceable inserts in the struts (you replace the whole strut) - I can see zero downside to using the Koni inserts. If the next owner wants originals that bad its a simple change to replace with original kit - same job as replacing the struts in the first place and its back to stock. So no "reduction in value" from stock car - worst case is your new strut/shocks are not seen as value add.
I didn't replace my front springs (only 60K miles on them) but I found the new Koni vs the original F+S kit to be a huge improvement.

Thanks bmnelsc.
Do you know which part number for Koni fronts you bought off the top of your head. I've found some on Larkspeed.com but their parts finder has 944 only up to '86.

Do Spax require you to lower the car? I have a set and don't really know. They are adjustable so I would assume they are adjustable down from standard ride height.

Any replacement (particularly with a full alignment) will be an improvement - are your current ones soft (have they failed an MOT) or are you looking for something extra?

I have the Koni inserts on my S2 and they are OK, nothing more. They replaced the standard items at around 120,000 miles and seemed like a big step forward. However, 70,000 miles later, they are soft and worn and the rears are leaking. Frankly, I think the standard Fitchel and Sachs items were higher quality.

Does the 2.7 have crimped or screw-top front struts? If they are screw-top then you have a lot of options to change the inserts, although I fear they will be crimped.

Oli.

I went for original on the front. Got them from Porsche Silverstone. Cheapest I could find! Can't fit them yet, though, as my new springs aren't here yet :-( New Sachs fitted to the rear now, though.

I'm looking at fitting Powerflex bushes everywhere now but when I look for them they come in several sizes.
Any ideas which one's I need?
Cheers

Regarding the Powerflex bushes, you need to look on their website for the various part numbers and sizes.

The 4 x black rubber bushes that hold the t piece into the strut control arm (or a arm) are the same for all the 924/944/968. The insert that goes into the t- piece and slides onto the ARB and where the ARB is held in the drop link varies depending on the OD of your ARB.

The best way to establish the OD of your ARB is to either use a vernier caliper or large spanners/ stilsons. The main ARB section is ~ 21/22m for your car IIRC but dont trust me and measure it up !
