Was considering getting a short shift gear change fitted to my 996 Turbo. Has anyone got one, is it worth getting, are there different types? I have heard they may make certain gears a bit difficult to select? Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Donald.

I had this fitted to my 997 C4s love it, into second is always a little stiff until all warmed up properly, after that a delight!

Hi Donald, I got the short shift fitted about 3 years ago, done by OPC Edinburgh. Shift into 2nd is quite stiff when cold but great once fully warmed.

I have one, feels a little notchy to start but very precise when used to it. No problems in any gears with stiffness or selection.

Hi Guys Fitted a short shift to my 996TT a few months ago and I love it I went for one from Ebay was a third of the price of the Band M shifter and was the same quality as I had fitted one a few years ago . But look out some are for LHD and need to be taken apart and swap the leaver around so it points to the driver.
1st to 2nd a little stiff when cold but when warm just like a rifle bolt!

I have it fitted to my Turbo. Very pleased and no issues with gear sellection (but I do keep my car garaged so it doesn't get cold).

I'm going to have to do this because the gear change is the main bug-bear with my car.

Have seen some on Ebay but not sure whether they will fit my 2003 C2.

Regards

I considered doing this to mine but owned 2 996 turbo,s fitted with the short shift and on both 2nd gear was not very good on one it would occassionally jump out of gear, dont know whether this was an adjustment issue or not, been told to fit a genuine 997 one?
