Short Shifter experience

Any fellow Gen 1 997 owners have the short shift kit, or retro-fitted one?

I use my car all year round, so wondered how stiff it makes shifts under cold conditions? Is it liveable? A worthwhile modification?

thanks

Definitely worth having - but get a proper kit, not one of the cheap after-market units on offer.

1st and 2nd gearshift can be a little stiff initially, but you soon get used to it and it'll be fine for general motoring all year round.

Thanks Clive, that's good to know.
Saw "The Smoking Tire" chap on YouTube raving about the GT3 short shift kit for the 997, but I haven't tracked one of those down anywhere yet. I've just found a std genuine Porsche kit and some third party ones.

Mine has an genuine short shifter fitted and is excellent. 1st to 2nd can be slightly notchy when cold but would recommend for all conditions....

I got my OPC to do it and its great!
Don't even notice it now.
I also think my 1st and 2nd gear changes improved too!

Had the s/s since new and, whilst it was a little stiff (1st to 2nd in particular) when new, it has loosened up nicely and a pleasure to use (after 30k miles!) ;-)
