I'm sure this as been covered before.

But who on here has one?
Are they genuine Porsche or Patent Parts?

Loads available on fleaBay, but not sure about the quality.

Cheers

I have a genuine Porsche short shifter which is great for me, but a very different feel to the standard one, I would recommend trying one before buying one

I've driven Audi's with short shifters and after the initial "it won't go in gear.... oh... just needs a push", loved it.

I'll try and have a try in someones before committing though.

Cheers

Hi, I also have a genuine Porsche short shifter fitted, it makes the gearbox feel quite 'notchy' but once you get used it to, it feels more precise than the standard shifter. I agree that it would be best to try before you buy.

Regards,

I fitted a Porsche one to my old Targa and it was very much a "rifle bolt" movement to change gear and quite stiff until the gearbox oil warmed up properly. It made the whole thing feel much more precise and IMO, a worthwhile mod, but as others have said, try before you buy because you have to cut the old nylon bushes off and replace with new one time bushes. Some of the better after-market ones have removable bushes which would let you revert more easily for future resale.

Personally, I would consider these better after-market ones but be wary of the e-bay ones because of the potential for adjustment problems if they aren't manufactured just right.
