Should i buy ????

I presume as an absolute minimum you've viewed the car Ian. In my humble opinion, a 911, of all cars
has too many pitfalls to buy unseen!
You need to check the usual hidden places for rot, I notice the seller mentions nothing about rust or
body condition.
Any car can look perfect in lo-res pictures and there are a lot of very rotten 911s out there with just
a thin layer of paint covering the evidence!!

Tread carefully, rot alone can easily gobble four figure sums for just minor bits!

Factory Turbo body in 1979? '84 was the 1st official Factory Turbo Body. Maybe a dealer fitted a turbo wheel arches / wings afterwards meaning spacers are used, suspension is stock narrowbody as are the brakes.

I know the car, looks absolutely beautiful when it goes past, passed me just the other day as I was coming back from my daughter's school. He uses it - it's not a garage ornament. The owner lives in the next village (Byfield). (The phone numbers in the ad are for Banbury and Byfield - not Oxford)

Colour is fantastic, and I mean fantastic, it looks a million dollars. He is including the private plate as far as I know. It's been on eBay once before and didn't sell. We were going to hook up and talk Porsches but it never happened; Peter was always out of the country and when he was around I was up to my neck in work. I know he has spent good money with Tuthills as they are near us and you get to hear! You could do worse than give them a ring. I haven't seen the body right up close but I know the car was garaged. I'm no mega-Targa fan but I do love this one. I mean REALLLY love it.

I know he would have taken £10k last time for it, if I was in the market and the body checked out I would pay that straight away considering the money he has paid out. If it comes any less and the body is 90/95% there you have got a total bargain in my opinion.

Like I said, I've never met the guy, never seen the car stopped in front of me and have no affiliation. Can drop in and have a quick look to see if it's worth a PPI if you want and he is around tomorrow.

Cheers, JG

If the sellers info checks out with confirmation from the specialists mentioned and the other documents then it could be a great buy. I'd be encouraged by the amount of work ie TLC done. However..... it is all too easy to get carried away and IMHO it is worth getting either a report from Tuthills or an independent inspection.
