Should I fit a strut brace to my 993 Turbo ?

My 993 Turbo is very original and I do not want to drastically change its character, however I am considering fitting a strut brace.

The theorical benefits are appealing , but are they more or less relevant on a Turbo than say a 2S ?

Any comments are welcome , especially from Turbo owners that have one fitted.

I've gone for the anti-bling and very subtle Perfect Power Brace from the US. It's a beautifully well made piece and it hides away under the carpet to retain the factory look. The design also appears to offer better rigidity than most I have seen as it braces directly between the strut towers.

I've just installed carbon fibre one. It looks great so there was no way I was going to hide it under the carpet. As for tangible benefits, well, difficult to really say. The car does seem to change direction with more precision, but maybe that's my imagination.[:)]

Dommorton, did you order direct from the company in America, or from an english firm?
I like the look of this one.

PP were happy to send it to me but their estimated postal costs were high. I arranged DHL from my side for around £40 instead. There was a 30 odd quid customs charge to pay also. Still all in I felt it good value compared to the mass manufactured alternatives.
 
Presumably, since mine's a Targa - and they're built on the convertible body, it might be even more beneficial for me?
Still trying to justify one myself

I have a FVD alloy brace on my car, very well made and I like the fact it is adjustable with the left and right hand threads at either end which makes the minor adjustments very easy.

I fitted a strut brace to my 964 and found immediately, that corner turn in was much sharper. SO it is very worthwhile for the 964. However....

Once I got a 993 targa, i put the strut brace on and hardly noticed any difference before and after. Oh well.

Let us know what your before and after thoughts were.
 
Well eventually I went for the Eurocup Carbon SB from Porscheshop.

Although it looked straightforward to fit, I E Mailed Porscheshop for fitting instructions, their most unhelpfull reply ;

"No instructions available I can only advise if you are uncertain of how to fit the part to take it to a garage that have experience in doing such modifications."

The carbon brace appears well made with nice alu bits. However one of the brackets was finisihed off to a much poorer standard to the other !, untidy welding and the drilled holes were too small.

Once fitted, the turn in although not dramatically different was discernable sharper.

i fitted a carbon fibre one on mine !
but its hidden under the flooring carpet,
i found it did seem better in handling afterwards !
i think mine cost about 130.00
go on go for it.
