hiya all, car due to go in to be more or less completly blown in, mainly because of faded paint,i must admit its more out of want then necessity but have questioned would i be better off waiting to spring? and better weather as i intend to drive car regularly, car is garaged so can be kept away if weather really awful, so what do people think have her blown in now or wait until the new year? opinions very welcome and needed!! regards all jason p

Where are you based? Look at getting it properly machine polished, might save you a fortune. When I get a bit of spare time I'll take some before and after photos of when I tackle the mismatch one of my doors.

Here's a picture of the wing when I'd finished with it:

(Used Menzerna Power Gloss and then Menzerna Final Finish to polish, glazed with Meguiars 7, Sealed with Zaino ClearSeal and then Waxed with Zymol Concours)

thanks for info, will contact valeters who do that sort of thing and i am based in wanstead which is east london/essex borders. thanks jason p

Take a look on Detailing World, there are a few people in our area who will be able to discuss what you want doing. Ask them to do a test on a panel and you'll be able to tell whether you'll get the reults you want.

hiya eldavo, i have taken your advice and contacted a paint correction and detailing specialist based in thurrock, essex [gleanmachine detailing]and he is popping down to see what needs sorting on friday, the guy told me he worked on a club members 911targa in the recent past and owned a 944 lux in the 80s and loves the 944 and has worked with guards red before and told me that fading and turning pinkish is common in 944s, so thanks eldavo as paint correction starts at £350 with a free engine/ bay valet if you spend over £200,if hes able to do the job, you would have saved me a nice few bob compared to having her totally blown in, will keep you posted and thanks again regards jason p ps uses same/similar products that your using.....

Cool, glad it worked out for you! A mate of mine was selling his p reg vw transporter in a fetching dusky pink colour. I jokingly told him I could put it back to red for him and tidy the whole thing up. I ended up doing this as he said he would advertise it for more money, whatever it sold for over what he was originally going to ask for, we'd go halves on. I made £500!

Get plenty of before and after pics too, might inspire me to get cracking and finish mine off.

If you have no joy with him, try AD.Coachworks, based just off the A406 in Edmonton. The number is 02088840976. Very, very good. Been doing any jobs on my cars for years and anyone I have sent there seem happy. Guys name is Akis. Had two 928s recently and now a Ferrari in there.
