Should I Panic??!

Ok, so I just topped up the Oil in the C4S and noticed a bit of gunk in the top of the filler neck and also the underside of the filler cap. The water was also a little low in the coolant reservoir.

In my normal experience this is a head gasket issue but could it be anything else...............or even nothing to worry about?

Earlier on the car had to wind the engine over a few times before it fired into life.

Should I be asking Santa for a LOT of money this Christmas?..... :-/

Has it had a good blast recently? If not it could just be a bit of condensation in the filler tube mixing with the oil. Top the coolant and and give a good thrashing for 30ins and then have a look.

Thanks David,

It had sat for a week since I last used it (so much so the fob had disengaged from the car and I had to reset it) so it could well be that.

I've topped up the water and cleaned the filler cap so will keep a close eye on it!!

Fingers crossed.

Cheers

Mark.

Mayo in the filler tube is really common, and nothing to worry about. Condensation forms on the surface of the tube and oil fumes emulsify with it. Much worse in this cold weather, but even using it every day in the summer you will get a little.
