Should I pay for 111 point check b4 warrenty runs out?

Hi guys,
Just a quick one - my one year warrenty is about to run out on my 06 C2S that I bought from an OPC last year. I am not going to renew the warrenty as I think putting the price up to £1,300 is taking the mick plus the draconian clauses about batteries and windscreen wipers ect. My car has only done 14,000 miles so if anything major goes wrong I am going to take it up with Porsche anyway.

Question is before my current warrenty runs out should I pay the £199 for the 111 point check in case they pick up anything that is covered by it or do you think it would be a waste of money as I probably would have noticed the car was not running right?

There is a possibility that things that fail the 111-point check will be covered under your existing warranty, so it would make sense to have the check done before expiry. If you have a minor service done at the same time, you'll likely get the inspection cost waived - do a search as I'm sure that's been reported on here recently. The whole service/inspection/renewal process really needs to be done all in one visit to maximise the good will from the dealership.

Later:
Sorry - didn't see that you're not going to renew. Obviously they'd be a little less inclined on the good will front! I guess the inspection might still be worth doing before the existing warranty expires, but if you're going independant after that, it could also be £200 for nothing. I supposed you could get your intended independant to do the check for you instead.

Even though PC's are desperate for income I doubt the money would be well spent. But check underneath the car where the engine and gearbox join together for signs of dampness, which might indicate an RMS leaking. If so , get it sorted under the current warranty.

Most OPCs will do a complimentary 'health check', which covers safety related items - this won't include all mechanical and electrical systems, but it does cover tyres, brakes, lighting and in general the 'technicians' will look at other items such as air con rads leaking and RMS leaks. By no means an exhaustive check but if you want a bit of peace of mind, a free valet and the chance of them replacing the RMS if its leaking before your warranty expires then all it costs is a few hours of your time.

Thanks for the advice, I have heard about RMS leak so will check that but where exactly should I look? In engine bay or under car?

I am not going to get a warrenty from an indie or the service, will just go back to OPC for service. But think the service is due soon so maybe try and negotiate price down on the inspection but if they doing a service should they not pick up most things included in 111 check anyway?
