Should I worry?

For ages the car has made a squeak (it couldn't sound more like the archetypal comedy mouse sound if it tried!) every time I release the break pedal. However, yesterday whilst trying to grease up the pedal mechanism in the driver foot well a friend told me they could hear the sound from outside the car too! So far as I can tell it's coming from the brake servo or there abouts.....hence the title in the post! Is this common?

Is there anything I can do about it, if so what?! It all seems pretty cramped in there!

Oh, doubt it's related but I noticed a moan from steering/brakes or something in that area when turning (almost full lock) at slow speed, it's intermittent but I can make it do it if I want to (which I really, really don't!). Doubt it's brakes though, they're all brand spanking new at the front with callipers all cleaned and serviced! Someone mentioned a lose power steering pump belt, can this be easily tensioned?!

Thanks all.

The creak could be the rod that goes across the car from the pedal to the servo, at the servo end bush.
The steering related noise could be the belt - the adjuster is attached to the same bracket as the alternator adjuster and is just a bottle screw.
Could also be the pump and first thing would be to change the fluid!
