Should this suspension boot be attached?

Took my NS Rear wheel off today (long story for another post) and discovered the shock has a boot that looks like it should cover more of the shock (and probably did until recently when various suspension parts where changed).

Anyone know if the boot in the picture (A) should be clipped over the flang at (B)?

I can stretch it down to the flange but can't get it over the flange. The lower part of the shock looks far too clean not to have been covered until recently.

(Now taken the other rear wheel off to have a look and that side is the same - but same man did the work both sides so may be same mistake...?)

Doh! - I forgot all about that.
Will try to take one on my mobile before I head over to my indy to have a few words with him.

Mark,
My guess would be not, with the suspension compressed (ie car off the jack and on it wheels) the boot will fully cover the shaft of the shocker. The item arrowed 'B' doesn't look like it should retain the boot.
Keep us posted.

Yes - just like you say....the story I got today was "yes, should be attached, but they tend to pop off when car is jacked up and tough to put back without a small tool we have..."

So they are going to get put back.

Mine look like yours, Mark.

I don't think it is a problem, as I assume the protective sleeves must drop down when the car is lowered.
