Show & Shine at Arundel Castle - Sunday 7th August

Region 23 have teamed up with Arundel Castle in West Sussex to host the annual Show and Shine in the picturesque castle grounds at Arundel.

The display area and parking for Porsches will be on the lower lawns in the castle grounds, this area is close to the general entrance for all visitors which gives us maximum exposure. This is an excellent opportunity to put our wonderful cars on display in an amazing setting. Entry will be £5 per car with 2 passengers but you will receive a £5 discount on entry to the Castle.

We have also partnered with a number of suppliers who will be in attendance on the day. These include Official Porsche Centre Mid-Sussex, Paragon, Parr and Race Glaze.

Arundel is a market town rich in history and culture, straddling the river Arun, between the South Downs and the English Channel just waiting to be discovered. Dominated by the Norman Castle and Gothic Cathedral and surrounded by ancient woodland, Arundel's skyline is impressive from whatever direction you approach the town.

The town has become famous not only for its antique shops but also for its wide range of other contemporary shops, eateries and galleries. There are plenty of activities for the family both in the castle grounds as well as within walking distance of the castle, including the Wildlife & Wetlands Centre, take a boat trip on the River Arun or visit the Cathedral.

Please note that due to the inherent issues of mixing moving vehicles with members of the public on foot, there will be some restrictions in terms of time slots for getting in and out of the display/parking area and further details will be made available in subsequent updates.

All Porsche owners are welcome to park in the Castle grounds and if you would like to attend, please e-mail David Green RO so that he has some idea of numbers to expect on the day.

As a PCGB member, if you would like to display your car in the Show & Shine, please let David know in advance as you will not be able to enter your car into the display on the day.

We will be adding further information as it become available.

Great that you are looking to come along, can you let David know if you'd like to display your car in the show and shine, or if you're coming along on the day for the Porsche parking.

I'm sending an email to David! Not certain I'll give the S&S a go, but hope we'll be there!
It'll be good to see you Chris, the more the merrier! Hopefully you can persuade some of your Kent region mates to attend.

I'm going to enter my white 928 into S&S, not holding out much hope, perhaps there will be a sympathy section!

Rachel

Hi

I have already contacted David reference to entering the Show & Shine
& I'm looking forward to looking around Arundel Castle too.

Now we have the Goodwood Festival of Speed out of the way, we are immediately into final planning for our annual Show and Shine at Arundel Castle, West Sussex.

We will shortly have a confirmed list of suppliers who will be working with us and we'll share these as soon as possible.

We have 30 cars display cars booked for the Show and Shine and I'll post information about how the voting works in due course.

In the meantime, I thought I would share our advertising poster with you.

It would be great to see you all there and if we have the same weather as FoS, it will be glorious down here in sunny West Sussex.

Rachel, Do we have to buy tickets in advance? If so, how? We intend to be there in one of our 968's.

No you don't need advance tickets, just pay on the gate.

You do need to be there before 11.00 a.m. as Arundel Castle do not allow us to mix moving cars and the public.

Look forward to seeing you there.

Rachel

We have over 30 cars signed up for the 'Show & Shine", similar to a concours, but much much more relaxed.

We have many more Porsches coming just to park up in the Castle grounds and socialise/picnic/shop etc and we are expecting more than 100 cars on the day and we can park at least 200 in the grounds.

Rachel

I see I thought it was just one big group of cars I didn't realise there was some that were in a show and shine and others that were just being parked up.

Cheers Steve

We now have a number of partners signed up to attend:

Paragon
Parr
Porsche Centre Mid-Sussex
More Than Polish

The Porsche specialists will be bringing along display cars, so we should expect something tasty from Parr and Paragon. OPC Mid-Sussex will be bringing some cars as well, more info closer to the date. More Than Polish may well be doing a demo during the day.

This is a relaxed day, so plenty of opportunity to shoot the breeze with old friends and new and to make the most of Arundel.

It's the Goodwood Breakfast Club first thing in the morning, so why not pop along and join us on your way back! We have parking for up to 200 Porsche in the Castle grounds.

Just a heads up for this event ,the castle does not allow visitors who have dogs into any part of the castle grounds

Hi rachael,
A quick question - if I attend on sunday how easy will it be to get the car out of the castle grounds ? It's just I have a toddler I might bring and as toddlers can be most unpredictable , I might have to make a quick escape !
Any thoughts gratefully received
Angusr

I think it will be tough, we may be able to get you out between 1.00 and 1.30 as we are allowed to let late arrivals in. Otherwise it won't be until 4.00 as Arundel Castle's health and safety policies are very strict where moving vehicles and members of the public are involved.

Thanks to all at R23 for organising an excelent event. Until 9.00 am this morning, I was undecided whether to travel from Dorset to Arundel to attend as the weather forcast was not good. I'm glad I made the effort as the weather was close to ideal - shows how wrong the forcasters can be! The turn out was good and the venue perfect.

Thanks again
Chris H R26

Chris, it was great to see you at Arundel and we really appreciate the distance you travelled. I'm glad you enjoyed it and I hope you had a good journey back home.

We should come down your way next time.

Rachel

Hi Rachel & David

Many thanks to the Sussex Region of the Porsche Club for arranging an excellent location Arundel Castle & after the heaven
open up just after 9.30 - 9.45 & I thought my day was not going to be nice after I set out for my long drive from Essex (Colchester) just short of 145 miles each way it turned out to be a lovely sunny day & the turnout was excellent on the Porsche front & I counted 85 cars at one point & the guest Porsche Dealerships Panamera & Cayenne & Parr's Motorsport with there lovely 996 GT3RS in White & Blue & the other guest Dealership & there Silver GT3 & there lovely Blue 997 Carrera 4S. It was also nice to see some nice early cars too & the car that won the Show & Shine was a lovely Blue 356 Speedster even if it was not a real Speedster it was the best car for me & it won the days award.

Even after my long drive I had a lovely day & meet soon nice members with there just as nice Porsche Cars & after the event I then made my way onto Brighton to make my day a bit more special before heading home to Essex & I'm looking forward to maybe attending another event with the sussex region in the near future.

Once again many thanks for making me welcome with your region & letting me attend your Arundel Castle event, so till the next time I meet any of your region member at maybe the National Club Event in September I will sign off now.

Yours Truly Kevin. [:)]
