I think it would be a good idea for us to show/describe any modifications that we have done to our cars.
Either a picture or description wll be cool. (no climate pun intended!)

Well, let' s start the ball rolling - mind you, I see you haven' t started with your own !

Supercharged/intercooled
Aeroquip brake hoses
Silicone brake fluid
Pagid fast road pads
Adjustable Koni
Stiffer front/rear anti-roll bars.
Lowered (with rolled front wheel arches) as far as RUF could do it
Strut brace
MOMO Race wheel (couldn' t stand the feel of the original)
245/45 tyres on rear (normal 205/55 on front) on original 7" /8"
H&S s/s exhaust

If this sounds like a hard ride, most non-porker owning passengers (Sporting Bears Dream Rides - raising money for charity - next at Brooklands), tell me that the ride is much more comfortable than they would have thought.
I think it is a bit hard, but very little body roll, which is good

OK - here are my mods

External

Wide body conversion (steel arches, side sills, front valence and spoiler)
Turbo fuchs (245/45 and 205/55)

Internal

RS Lower pulley
RS Upper pulley
Turbo Brake pads
Front brake discs (930)
H&R Sports air filter (cone)
Braided fuel lines
Syntax 75/90 (gear box oil)
Patrick Motorsports lightweight flywheel
Stainless steel custom back box (H&S)
993 Varioram engine (22,000 kms)
Stainless steel braided oil lines
Turbo suspension

Needless to say it goes like poo poo off a very shiny shovel!!!

Hi Richard - a very very interesting set of modifications...are you sure you posted your reply correctly ? - this is the 3.2 Carrera forum...! [;)]

Only messing about.

PS - interested in the brake mods. Who did them ?

Steve

James at JM Autos did all the work - a little on the slow side but good quality which was the main thing - also quite cheap - I think he only charges £35 per hour.

The brakes are standard items from a 930 Turbo which just bolted on apparently - stops really well now - the amount of times my girlfriend has nearly been hurled through the windscreen is beyond counting though!! [:D]

They are, apparently, 917 brakes.

I was told, when I asked about this modification, that the front brakes are more likely to lock up than the standard, which 930s had a habit of doing. Is this true, at least in the wet ?

930 fronts will lock up under extreme braking in the dry (did this at Castle Coombe recently). In the wet, it is relatively easy to lock them up. Be warned!

Firstly can we please have some power figure for the three cars mentioned so far?

Heres my list, based on 1986 SSE convertible

965 Turbo II body conversion
custom brake ducts with foglights in 965 bumper (ongoing development)
Custom exhaust based on Dansk twin outlet rear box with twin 100mm resonated tailpipes, looks nicer but quieter.
Turbo II replica split rims wheels
Custom steering wheel (993RS) with colour coded burgundy leather (fit this week for Eynsham)
strut brace
induction kit
lowered

Not quite as extreme as those mentioned so far.

ANYONE seen Nitrous used on a 3.2, cant get the idea out of my head but dont think i will do it to this car but maybe next project car, in theory for less than £1000 you get Turbo eating performance, but how long would it last etc.

See some basic pics of mine at www.essentialstyling.com

Best Regards, Simon

Simon,
There was a guy trying to sell a 3.2 Cab with nitrous on one of the other Porker sites a few months ago - it had been given the full Max Power treatment so no one was inclined to take it terribly seriously (and it did look a bit to ' bling' for my tastes !). Anyway it clearly can be done - pwer quoted was something approaching 400bhp I think.
No doubt the purists would tut and mumble into their ' real ale' but I think it would be fun especially if you had a spare engine lying around !!!!
