I want to remove my door cards. I take it I just disconnect the battery for 30minutes before I start don't I?

That's what I did when i removed mine, make sure you don't turn the ignition on once you've disconnected them or the airbag light will need re-set. I needed to have mine re-set after driving mine to the paint shop.

I have taken the door cards off my 986 Boxster. you only need to disconnect the battery if you are going to disconnect the Air Bag. If you do disconnect the battery my car required the ignition key to be in otherwise the alarm is activated. And I agree that whilst the air bag is disconnected if you reconnect the battery the air bag warning will light and will require resetting which requires Porsche workshop computer.
