well im trying to decide on a design for the side decal for the boxster i want to go with the side strip with a smaller text at the front i've attached my design to see what people think will be cutting it myself so can tweak design if someone comes up with a good idea...and no i'm not putting viper strips on it..LOL

Mine has these! I do think they work on non-Spyders, your colour scheme is fine. The Cayman R extends the stripes to the front bumper
but I don't think it needs them. I'd leave the rear bumper too.

loving the look of your spider mate, ye seen the extended on the caymen's and quite liked it

Thanks.

Apparently when you fit them it is best to stop on the main panel, don't go round the corner at the wheel arch. That is how it is done on mine. Having said that, I am a sucker for stripes and my wife now has an Abarth 500 and those stripes do go round the corners, so to speak. I suspect Porsche know best!

Hi,

Talk to Tracy Wilkins, Boxster Reg, as she had some fitted to hers and knows someone who makes them.[:D]

thanks for the info but i'm a signmaker so will make them myself they only cost about £1 material wise[:D] and as for porsche not tucking them round the corners its just an easy and quick way to fit them them i prefer having them tucked away, i see the new style mini's with the stipes and you can see the 4/5mm short that the factory decals are not a great fan of it

You may fall foul of copyright infringement with the font. Especially as Porsche Cars GB read this forum.

Cheers,

It hadn't occurred to me that there might be copyright on a font but I can see that if you spell out the name it then becomes the brand, which the company has to protect. But in this case it would seem very petty-minded to try to stop someone decorating their car with a non-standard side stripe. It looks pretty good to me, in fact better than the OEM one on the Spyder.

This reminds me that I asked about putting the club badge on a number plate for my CS and was told that the club had to protect its IP, so the answer was No. However I could buy 2 mini-stickers from the Club Shop (£1 + SAE), which gave me a licence to use, in which case the answer was Yes! [8|]

I believe Highgate House got their knuckles rapped for selling decals with Porsche logos and script, and had to withdraw them from their site. On the other hand, if you are making them yourself, for your own use, although it may not be technically correct, I can't see Mr P being too fussed about it.

BTW, putting badges on your number plates would be an MOT fail...........

OI!! You can't say that round these parts [:D]

Sorry Fred but I don't think it's right to say it is a breach of copyright to put a Porsche sticker that you make yourself on the side of your own Porsche - I can see why they may get upset if you were selling them but that would, of course, be completely different.

I bow to your superior knowledge on this one Rob.

I have a very similar font to the Porsche one but there are subtle differences so my home made efforts do not infringe on Mr. P

Cheers,

No need to bow mighty quizmaster!

You are quite right to say that unauthorised use of Porsche logo/font could be problematic in certain circumstances but these are not them.

See you Wednesday I hope.

Wednesday evening I'll be there, noggin and natter and in the car park looking at cars (yeah right!)

I've been trying to think of an alternative to Woodvale seeing that is unlikely to happen in 2013. 'Porkers in the Trough' may be joined by 'Porkers in the Mud'!

Cheers,
