Side decals ?

declangrady

New member
I need to source new side decals for my 924.

Any suggestions on where to look ?
I'm told there are 3 different fonts that were used

Also, how do I go about removing the existing ones ? Is there a knack ?

Hi Declan, not sure about replacements, but the old ones come off with some warm air (hairdryer or the like) and a fingernail or plastic scraper (I used an old plastic ruler snapped in half, the snapped edge was sharp enough to get the sticker off without marking the paint.)

Then T-Cut or similar to clean off any remaining residue. Did it a treat.

I personally wouldn't use T-cut. Cutting polish should be sufficient or even a citrus based cleaner.
There are usually side decals advertised on ebay, not sure about different fonts being used but there are different colours.
Cheers

Despite the fact that the man is lurking on the DDK forum, Bootsy advises the retro race shack, offering all kinds of decals for porsches. The ones on ebay usually have not the correct font or spacing as shown like (yes I know this is a 911 and not a 924 with the stripey porsche logo)

Bad one

No affiliation!

Declan, great combination: a 911 for the longer trips and a 924 runabout?

Take care and regards

Ack. they're rubbish !
The font seems to be correct, but the sections each side of the letters are solid, not hashed like the originals

ah..... cut a few pennies and then you have to buy properly again? Do you have a possibility to get a (partial) refund because you were mis sold something???

Hope it works out!!!

I haven't even got in touch with the seller yet to complain.
I only opened them last night to see what they were like.

I can't find any with the hatching anywhere .. they all seem to be solid blocks of colour.

Surely someone must provide them ?

It might sound obvious but do drop bootsy (his real name is Tom) a line. He has the real ones.

I hope this helps.
