Side light bulbs in Litronic kit.......

Hi,

I need to replace one of the front sidelight bulbs within the Litronic lighting system which I bought within the car options.

To match up with other headlamp, do I need to buy the Halfords 'Super Bright (Xenon) Bulb, or is Xenon bulb only used for the 'main' beam?

(BTW - in case it's a national offer, Halfords are currently offering BOGOF on the Super Brights - which at £20 a go is worth looking at!).

Cheers,
Mike.

I'm not quite sure what you are asking...

The "litronic" is the dip beam - this also moves up to help fill in the hight beam when you switch to high beam.
The High Beam bulbs are H7 Halogen bulbs.
The sidelights are (stupidly expensive!) 5w halogen bulbs - pattern H6W

.....thanks, Mark. Probably simpler if I call it 'the bulb for the light which comes on at first switch' (which I've always known as 'sidelights'). I suppose I was just unsure whether 'Litronic' indicated a special bulb or not? And I'm now more confused / scared by just having found this:

I'm guessing that I'll just need to call Reading on Monday to check? (and keep everything crossed!)

Cheers,
Mike.

......Mark - you're not going to believe this......having bought my Halford bulbs (as per their 'factsheet') and dismantled the headlamp unit, the bulb won't fit into the bulb housing. When you inspect the existing bulb / bulb housing further it becomes clear why - the male and female lugs are positioned at a slight angle to the horizontal!! Can you believe this? (Additionally, the bulb is has a distinctive small spike).

I'll call Porsche Reading on Monday to find out more. (I suppose I should just be glad that the main bulb hasn't gone - Pelican Parts have this down at $140).

Mike.

Yes I can believe it - that's why I put the bulb type number in my post [&o]

The bulb in the Halfords catalogue would be for the non-litronic headlights, and I bet it cost about 50p to a £1, rather than £5 or £6?

D2S bulbs on e-bay, Just bought a pair £43 inc delivery, 4300k and genuine philips bulbs.
I changed both just in case of a colour temperature mismatch, but over £100 per bulb from OPC
