I've just changed the bulb in one of these and it wont' click back into the socket. What keeps it in place? How is it attached? TIA

What you can't see in the pic is the clip. As I recall (and if I'm wrong it's only in the detail) the hole should be round with an extended bit off it - sort of like a lolipop but horizontal if you follow. The light itself should have the bulb holder (which is off-centre) with a plastic barb on it and a sprung tab with another plastic barb. The spring and the two barbs are what hold it in and to remove idea is that you push against the sprung tab to release the bulb holder barb from the hole, then withdraw the sprung tab. Obviously if it has been removed at any time by someone who doesn't know how it works then one of the barbs or the spring tab is very likely broken off.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]If it is broken then they are cheap. One of mine broke even though I did know how to remove it and I used Blu-Tac to hold it on until I got a new one. That was around April and it's holding on well.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

What I have -- I think -- is a circular hole and a small slot at the bottom of the lollipop stick if you see what I mean.

That'll be me then :)

£2 each at Eurocarparts, I'll pick a couple up on Monday. Thanks for your help.

Well, I was just over £6 for the pair by the time they had added VAT etc. I got the slightly more expensive £2.70 each + VAT ones, which came with bulb holder and bulb. The £2.70 ones are a VW part, 161.949.117A. They are a tight fit when you put them in -- I thought I was going to break them but they popped in and are a snug fit. One less thing to fail on the MOT hopefully. Pic below showing the clip that holds it in the main light hole, for what it is worth.
