Side windows catch?

Does anyone else have this problem?

When you open the doors, the window retracts slightly, but when opened quickly, the top of the window catches on the underside of the frame in the soft top.

We all do!

Have your car programmed to auto lock the doors that way you have to pull the door lever twice to unlock then open the door.

JCB..

Alternatively just open the doors slightly slower! Get into a routine where you lift the handle, pause momentarily (while the window drops) and then pull or push the door open as appropriate. Unfortunately, you have little control over what passengers do []. If they yank the door open more than twice, ban them from the car [:D].

Well I suppose it's no use taking it back to the dealer to have it fixed! I must say I find it hard to believe something like this is a design fault.

I think you will find that all cabrio's and coupes operate the same way...

Its the only way to get a proper seal on a frameless door. And to be fair, you just have to pause for a second when you pull the door handle..

The usual common fault is the window regulator.

It isn't a design fault it's user error! [&:]

Its also a pain trying to explain to a passenger never been in the car before on how to use the door correctly without smashing the side window......... or ripping the seal from the car.
I generally open the door for them the first time and show them

I never knew there was an issue with this. I have never had a problem with my door or the passenger door doing this. Maybe its because I am older and moving more slowly.[8D] And I don't carry any young people. Well, not too often.

I suppose you could always hold the unlock button on the key-fob as you approach the car and the windows gracefully lower. Then when your in and the passenger has fallen in and commented on how low it is you can just pop the windows up and there'll be no issue.

Getting out at the other end is just the reverse of the procedure above.

Or take it back to the OPC for personal training of how to enter and exit a car correctly!
