Sidelights - Gen II

Not noticed this before and I wondering if I'm going mad.....

Just got back home this evening with sidelights on. When exiting the car with engine running etc, the daytime running lights were on but the sidelights were not. Should they be given daytime running lights or are there not any at all?? I've got adaptive corning lights if it makes any difference.

Thanks!

I should clarify that when I had sidelights on I meant the switch in the car was set to sidelights.

Thanks

I don't think they were your daylight running lights Simon. The daylight running lights sit below the sidelights which are a thin striplight and do look a bit like the daylights but obviously not as bright. When you put sidelights on the daylight ones switch off (well on mine they do). If the daylight ones were on at night they would be a bit dazzling? Don't think the cornering lights have anything to do with it - I have those too. Just try switching the sidelights on and off to see the difference.

I thought this also but on the sidelight setting, the lights looked dazzling just like when running in daylight mode. I'm off to have another look!

Cheers,
Simon

Hi, checked this out again out of curiosity. When running with the sidelights switched on from inside the car the daylight lights remain on with no difference between home and off mode. The only time they change is when switching to headlights.

Am I going mad or is there such a mode as sidelights only because if there are, I don't have them?

That's definitely different to mine then. When I put the sidelights on the day lights go off, don't need to put headlights on to achieve this. However, have only tried it at night so is it different by day??!! Will have to check it out..

This is odd! My sidelight switch is effectively not doing anything. Manual didn't help much. I may put a call in to Bournemouth as I've tried changing the settings in the computer etc to no avail.

May well order my sports exhaust at the same time :)

Cheers

Remember the very good cost Martin at Cardiff offered us when you get your quote for PSE
Might well be worth the run over to him..

Yeah, Martin offered me the exhaust, just need to persuade the "better" half that it just is required :)

Now where's that bonus I'm due :)

I will have it!

Hi,

I checked this tonight and with the headlights on you have the thin strip (side lights) on as well , then switched to sidelights just the thin strip then home/off and you have the daytime running lights.

Can you turn the daytime lights off? does anyone else think they are bit well chav??!![:D]

Yes you can turn the daylights off through the lower left stalk. Scroll down to "set" then press stalk away from you. Then scroll down to last selection "light". Press stalk away again and you can select daylights on or off according to the check box. I don't use them.

I also tried turning off the daylights through the menu, and guess what......they stay on!

So along with not having sidelights, I can't even turn the daylights off either! :) Must call the garage......

The problem is finally fixed, I wasn't going mad afterall. A later version of software addressed the issue. Daytime/Sidelights now behaving.

Reading were excellent today, got me in at short notice, efficient, good service.

Ah, well that could well be the problem then![;)]

Pleased you finally got that sorted! I've started driving with my daylights on now that the autumn murk has descended.
