Sidelights

With prior apologies for the numpty question, I have headlights and brake lights, but no sidelights, depite them being the same bulb at the rear (1983 3.3 Turbo), and despite the headlights working fine on main beam. Am I missing something?[8|]

Its possible that they are on different fuses, try rotating the fuses in the holder, RH side of boot,,, the fuses may look OK but with age they DONT conduct feed, but look OK, they are avialable from all car shops, hope it helps.

So, tried turning the fuses in the holders, blew the fuel pump fuse, and have since fitted another one. Sidelights fuse also replaced, but when I turned on the lights, the fuse blew again??? Still, I now have a working clock, and the oil guage is in some danger of actually registering a level, when i am idling. Car is driving well, the fuel pump new fuse seems to have made the driving response more agile, maybe the fuel pump was intermittantly failing previously as the fuse was on a loose connection.

This is usually corrosion around the bulb contacts shorting the circuit. Try taking out each bulb and giving the contacts (on bulb and in socket) a good clean - I scraped off the corrosion with a sharp screw driver.

Now U know its the fuse , its time to find the reason,, remove the 4 bulbs and see if it blow the fuse without bulbs,, if it does then there is a problem with the wiring or the bulb holder,, should it be ok without bulbs,, try replacing 1 bulb at a time this should then tell U the shorting / wrong bulb holder,,

BUY 4 new bulbs before U start and a tin of spray for electrical connections................ Barry
