Sill Rot Theory.

When pottering about in the garage with the 944 as i do,one small job was to replace the drain that is fitted behind the petrol filler cap as i had manged to dislodge it when trying to unblock it.
Cleared the blockage and refitted it, when it occured to me that most 944 suffer sill rot in the offside as opposed to nearside which is the same side as the fuel filler, if it is blocked the water will stand in the filler neck and seep past the grommet which in turn will introduce moisture (water) to the rear well and rear sill section obviously causing problems.
Check yours out when you get time, it tends to get blocked on the elbow a metal insert which attaches to the grommet in the filler neck, sunroof cars may have a T- Piece connecting the drains together.
Certainly worth a look.[&:]

Good point. I had the conversation with my indie about which side goes first, and he reckoned the NS - as it picks up all the crud from the gutter. Mine's certainly worse on the NS, but not by a lot. []

A quick way of testing it is to get a drinking straw and blow down the tube just don't let the neighbours see you [8|]

Hmm. The off side sill on my now written off car(boo hoo) was definatly the worst. But the rear wing bottom on the near side was almost rotten to the core.
