Sill side skirts - S2

I fixed my sunroof over the weekend , by installing new gears. If I'd realised how easy it was, I'd have done it sooner!

I've got one job left. The plastic trim adjacent to the sills is fixed to the body by a series of what seem like plastic nuts, which tighten onto a stud from the body work, through a metal bracket. In one case the nut has fallen off, and the trim has worked loose. The "stud" seems very thin and I wonder if in fact it has corroded. I can't detect any thread on it. Or are the plastic nuts some fancy Porchse fixing that doesn;t use conventional methods?

Anyone with experience of these fittings reading this?

Yes I've a good look at these before, and they are a plastic nut on a threaded stud.

Most of mine are fairly corroded too but some are still obviously threaded.

Jules, I've not had to use it myself but there is a very indepth guide in the 'Garage Shop Manual' at

http://www.clarks-garage.com/

I've heard the thing to do is fold down the rear seats then just lie down in the boot nice and comfy while you work above your head on the gears [:)]

Sunroof- see Pelican parts site which ahs a good guide. One gear was stripped so was able to use other side as guide. The fiddly bit is getting the roof lining back tidily. Have some evostick handy. And yes lie on your back in the hatch area, if you place some cushions there try to avoid taking a nap!

Diver944 thanks for confirming. So my problem is the stud has corroded so much it has no thread. I shall have to work out a fix.
