Sills rusted through

Well, as the 944 got through the MOT with nothing required I thought I'd get the sills redone and they were beginning to signs of what I thought was surface rust.
The bodyshop has just phoned saying that the back end of the sills are rusted completely thorugh and will need parts welded on to sort it. I assume that the only other alternative is to replace the entire rear quarter panel? Or is the bottom of the sill a separate part?
Thanks.
PS He is quoting about £400 to do the welding a respray entire sills. Previous quote was £200 before the holes appeared.

I had exactly the same problem when i took her in for MOT - rusted all the way through..i paid £130 to get both sides cut off from where the front wing ends to all the way to the rear(including the rear panel bit) and "new" sills welded on + sprayed.I'd say that someone who doesn't know they're replaced couldn't tell the difference[:)].
If you can't find a good welder around your turf, you'll sure find one in Barnsley[;)].

£45 each for the sills and the rear wing panels + VAT + £15 delivery for future reference.
No use for mine alas as the rust has gone through both panels. CA did say you could use two back to back for a rear wing panel repair but that would have been £180+VAT+del. for parts which is already more than my guy has quoted for welding.

Edit: 4x45 doesn't equal 190

It sounds a lot for what I assume it an ungalvanised mild steel section with little real shape. I think I'd just let my bodyshop man fabricate what he needs for sills. He uses repair panels when they are complicated (like the windscreen bottom corners on my 964), but I'm pretty sure he'd prefer to make his own when it's largely flat.
