Sills

Hi Richard and welcome. The factory sills aren't very expensive (outer ones are £130+vat and inner £25 with PCGB discount) and will save a lot of labour over the aftermarket parts I've seen. How bad is the rust and whereabouts does it extend to?

Hi,

I have recently purchased an S2 and want to bring the body back up to a good state.

Does anybody know if there are any repair sections or pattern sills out there?

On one side the outer sill is detached at the bottom and clearly needs replacing. The other side has bubbled up and I plan to remove it to check and rectify any problems behind it. The bottom of the wings have some rust that I hope can be locally cut out and repaired. The real answer as to how bad it is though, will only come when it is opened up.[]

Peter, Thanks for the advise. I ended up getting factory inner and outer sills from the Solihull PC who were very helpful. When the body shop got the outers off though, I'm glad to say the inners were not needed. (I was working on the principle of better to have the parts available just in case.) A couple of sections the wing bottoms were not very good though, so I had them cut out and new sections made up. Even in base metal they look to have made a good job of this, so I'm very optimistic of the final appearance. With the structural work now complete, the glass etc is now being removed ready for paint. I'm hoping it will be ready for Silverstone and have even booked the tickets in anticipation. If it is, I hope to meet some of the Club members there and have a good look at other 944S2s.
