Sills are expensive, but often can be patch repaired if not to excessive. How bad are the currently? Pics? Edd

where from and how much (gen or non gen)?

also roughly how much would a bodyshop charge to fit and paint?

ta. :)

New sills are £155 From OPC . Cost depends on how bad they are sometimes sill replacement not necessary as mine was mainly at lower rear quarter and where sill meets it. Search forum for previous posts regarding sills, What lies beneath, There are mentions on here saying £1200 Per side but I presume these are extreme cases. Post some pics and have a scrape at areas affected. Alan.

Over a grand a side isn't uncommon, but that's not just to fit outer sills. That would be a really good job including other bits of work around the wings etc. and a proper paint job. If you catch the rust early it'll not be anywhere near as bad a job, although with 20% VAT and South-East labour rates it's never going to be cheap for me. [] Most people seem to have had better results with the genuine sills if they are needed, the time fiddling with pattern parts wipes out the saving.

they have holes i can stick about 4 fingers in. at £155 each they will get patched! also roughly how much are; front dampers (£200 each?) rear pads (£30?) ta. :)

I find half an hour comparing porscheshop/design 911/type 911/promax/eurocar parts and then ringing my OPC will give you the very best idea of costs.

You need to go to Brum then instead, the body shell prep for my race car included 2 new genuine sills (has to be as high tensile steel) the cost was a fraction of what you quote. ISTR EMC want something like 500 quid a side including painting. When I was up there last year they showed me a white 968 that had a complete windows out re-spray, 1500 quid yet many will come on here and say it can't be done for less than 5 grand.

Thats excellent advice right there, rear pads from your local motor factors should cost more than £30 [;)]

Mintex pads are £26 dlivered off of fleabay. That's turbo and S2 pads. Lux pads are probably cheaper.

its a big job but you need to be sure it really neads them done or can it be repaired sensibly. My preferred (trusted) garage quoted £600 per side, plus paint (allow £300 for that on top). But When they got it up on the ramp it was clear it was only very slight repairs needed, the MOT man had exaggerated, and my mistake was reading all the horror stories on the net about 944 sill repairs . I would recommend finding someone who is used to lots of welding eg a rally prep company if you do decide to replace the sills, they will charge a lot less than you see quote on these forums.

Again great advice, make sure you use a garage you can trust or one that has been recommended, I've said this before and will again, a LOT of garages will look at you and your car and think Porsche=££££££ for me for a bodge job and a lot of bull
