silly Q about door handle

during the frosty weather my car was somewhat difficult to open.

much warm water required.

nowadays I notice the door is stilll difficult to open and I have to pull the leaver on the handle right in before it unlocks itself.

without stripping it down I thought I would post a thread to see what others think is the most likely issue.

any help welcome

Mine was the same last year, just jammed up with old grease and crud inside the door and when this got cold it hardened. Lots of WD40 worked, I didn't have to strip the whole lot down which is a good thing, as it would never have gone back together. [&:]

An adjustable rod on the back of the handle. Probably needs screwing to a shorter length to actuate the door mechanism without squeezing so hard. Easy fix once you remove the door card

great picture help

I will tackle this tomorrow and report back.

it baffles both me and the wife though that I take an interest in sorting something like this when its getting dark.

mine does it during the winter, i WD40 it which helps and as soon as the temperature is 10+ again its fine.

I had this with my Drivers door, it got to the point where the handle wouldn't self-return and would jam. I undid the screw in the edge of the door and then pulled the handle out by about 1/4", sprayed loads of WD40 in (with a cloth underneath to catch the black drud that pours out!) and then put loads of spray oil in and pushed the handle back in, did up the screw and it works better than ever!

The passenger door has just done the same but it was too cold to sort it today....
