Silly wheel question,but...

I currently have the standard 7" and 8" D90s (which I like) on my S2, but wish they were a bit wider.
I know you can get the wider forged ones from the turbo but they seem rare and expensive.
I see a pair of 9" quite cheap on fleabay.
So this is probably a stupid question, but could I put the 9" on the rear and put my current 8" rears on the front?
If so would it ruin the geometry/tracking/driveability etc?

I suppose my main query is about fitting the 8" on the front.
I know the 9" will fit the rear no problem.

With the 8's on the front, you will have 10mm less inner clearance and the rims will stick out by an extra 16mm. You may need a shim to get clearance for you brakes or you may not. Swap you wheels around and see if they clear the brakes.

This assumes you have standard 7jx16 et55 and 8jx16 et 52.3 design 90's

I dont know what this will do for your handling, increasing the rear track relative to the front may increase understeer.

As long as the offset is compatable or you use spacers to make it so then the front wheel arches should easily accommodate 8J rims. You can fit 225 tyres to 7J rims with no problems which is 20mm wider than the standard 205 tyre and that is only 5mm off an inch. So there is plenty of space under there but as Jim has pointed out you need to think about the offset. If you get the offset correct then you shouldn't have any issues with suspension geometry.

Yes my 8" are the standard offset 52.3.
I'll swap them to the front and see how they fit and look I think.
Thanks for the comments guys.
