Silverstone Classic 2022

With only days until the Classic, like many others attending I'm still eagerly awaiting that official announcement/email promised some weeks ago. I had hoped at the very least, to get a communication via mailchimp affording attendees an opportunity to register for a group meeting or picnic, but as yet, nothing. I have to say as such, I find the lack of support, enthusiasm, and assistance, not only derisory and shameful but above all extremely embarrassing as a supposedly forward thinking, IT savvy, members club. Fortunately and contrary to what some would have you believe, there's much more to club life than just a free coffee, so on the bright side, fill your flasks and together we can show just how resilient and passionate as members we really are. Like Robin, I believe we are all in area 20, the gravelly area where the stage used to be. The stage now, in case you're wondering looks to have moved closer to the food festival, nearer Luffield and Brooklands, roughly where we used to park our post 2000 cars. All things considered our newly allocated area, certainly isn’t that bad, it's still relatively close to the new music stage and extremely close to the main entrance and both the Village Grandstand and an inner circuit bus stop. Importantly this area should also allow more members an opportunity to congregate along the barrier of the Wellington straight. If like me you're fed up with the politics and only motivated to find a resolution on how best we can meet up with old and new friends alike, wondered if any other like minded members would like to join Deb and I for a picnic during one of the lunch time breaks, perhaps on the grass bank somewhere near our cars. (weather dependant) I also wondered, just for fun, how possible it would be to attempt a flash mob style congregation in one of the Village stands for a race or two, of course access permitting. If you're up for this, don't forget to wear your club attire so others can identify who's who so we can all sit together in one of the stands for a catch up and some great club banter. Together we can still make it another extremely memorable Silverstone experience. Please note, as I am no longer an official or an organiser, this is just a suggestion so please feel free to add your own preferences or any other thoughts. That said, this may be subject to change should our club actually gets round to coming up with any better ideas. Furthermore you can check out the daily schedule here. Provisional thoughts:

[ul][*]Friday12.30-13.30. Picnic in area 20 club parking. (Don't forget your flags, flasks, chairs and of course picnic)

[/ul][ul][*]13.30 Visit the village stand for the Frank Williams Memorial Trophy For Masters Racing Legends, qualifying, hopefully on the quietest day.

[/ul][ul][*]Saturday 16.50-17.00. Village stand Demonstration: 40th Anniversary of Group C

[/ul][ul][*]Sunday, 11:40 – 12:30. Village Stand, Royal Automobile Club Historic Tourist Trophy (MRL Pre '63 GT)

[*]12.30. Picnic in area 20 club parking.

[/ul] For those who don't know, if you subscribe to this thread (see top of this page) you'll get an instant notification via email so you can keep up to date on any additions to this thread throughout the weekend. Currently probably our best method of communication between members.

Greg,

My plans have changed so I'll be there either Friday or Saturday with my flask (hip anyone?).

Thus I'm tempted to ask, "Does anyone have a spare ticket for either Friday or Saturday?" If so, please PM with your offer before I invest. Thank you.

Matthew, I have a spare passenger ticket....which day would you prefer?

If you PM me your email address I'll scan it and forward to you for printing...

cheers

John

I'll be there again. Heading down some time on Friday, not quite sure what time yet though.
