Silverstone Classic Displays - Any News ?

From the PCGB website

Members attending who are not in the display area will have designated "ËśPorsche Club Parking' at the rear
of Woodcote Grandstands, where secondary displays might be arranged by register, region, or other
formats.

We will plan the display area around the Birthday Registers (956/911S/928/944/964RS/996), and
classics (356/early 911).

So we should have a display area in the centre of the circuit.........

Website isn't too clear. I read that as all early 911, 914, 356 and 912's will be infield . .. . but I know we'll need mirror hangers to get in. Oh well . . . suppose we'll see on the day, unless Phil T can get some posted out.

At Classics in the Castle he was looking to do an S display . . . . for which yours (Andrew) would be perfect.

Phil

PS - headlight still in and heating working AA+ . . . . just need to sort an MOT

at Heddingahm, one of the marshals on the entrance asked if my car was a pre-73 Porsche [8|]

Lets hope the marchals at silverstone are a bit better [:D]

I was once told that my 912 was a race version of the 911, I think the logic was as it was 'one more' than 11 it must be better.
I just smiled...

How the ignorant get it right so often never ceases to baffle. [;)]

The answer to which is surely "No - it's a 911 !" followed by dumping the clutch and driving off at great speed ...
(The usual response from drivers when asked if thier car is a 3.2, 964, etc etc...when they arrive at an event) [&o]

I was very surprised this morning to get a pass sent through the post from PCGB. It's only for Friday and was unsolicited. I shan't grumble (usually do) but see if I can get passes for the other days once I am there.

Me too, and I'll be at work on Friday so not much use. Looks like the car will be best on the campsite until Monday.

Nick,

I assume you spoke to somebody at PCGB ?

I spoke to Phil T at Classics in the Castle and said I'd love to be part of a display. I was only planning to be there on Saturday but was waiting to order my tickets once I knew what was required of me. I think the cut off for pre-ordering from Silverstone is the 20th, so not much time.

No, I wasn't even planning to go until Saturday afternoon, but decided 2 days ago to go to the auction, which is on the Friday, so the Friday pass is gratefully accepted. As I said, unsolicited.

I know someone who has been invited by PMJT to put his S on the special display, but has not received an entry ticket or pass yet.

Philip, where are you? A few things need to be sorted!

Just found in the National Event 2007 part of this forum

To everyone who has bought a weekend ticket to silverstone quoting the PCGB reference, unfortunatly due to an error some of you may not have recieved your entire compliment of passes (Friday, Saturday & Sunday). Dont worry and if this is the case simply call Dan in the events dept on 01608 652911 and we can sort it out from there, if this is the case and you are still planning to attend on friday and have the pass then simply come to the Porsche Club village and we can hand out the extra passes needed for the rest of the weekend.

I spoke to Dan and I can collect the other passes on Friday

Yes James -- aren't people higorant ? When a newly opened OPC asked for offers of a series of older cars to exhibit in support of the launch of a new model recently, I called to look at the Showroom and to show a photo of my '73 2.4S Targa, with an offer. The young salesman looked and asked " Is that the one where the roof comes off ? "
See you at Silverstone , with any ( or lots of ) luck, in the Early Mob Display. Colin Palmer
