SILVERSTONE CLASSIC PIX AND COMMENTS HERE

Fantastic pics Melv.
I couln't make it this year - but it look a tremendous event once again.
Thanks for sharing them with us.

Sadly I haven't been able to make this event since the famous parade lap year. Thanks for the piccies Jason, looked a great even as usual. I particularly enjoy the Friday at the Classic when there's less people around and free access to all the pits - great atmosphere.

P.S. Your daughter looks just like you! I'll leave you to decide whether that's a good thing. [;)]

Very good pics Melv [;)]

Thank you very much for the link.
I love the classic cars of yore pure

Best Regards

Joseph

I went on the Saturday and thought it was a brilliant event again especially having got tickets through the club's BOGOF deal. There's so much to do in one day it passes really quickly. The paddock was a festival in itself. It was fascinating watching all the guys prepping their cars before their respective races and having the starters for each race assemble in a line for everyone to see them was a great idea. Although the grid babes holding their poles left a little to be desired [:D].

Favourite race for me was the Gentleman's sports cars race in the afternoon and the sight of mustangs, covettes, E-types and a couple of 911s all drifting around Luffield. So much going on that I only got the camera out once....but what a car! [8D]

no mate I swear the sky was red all weekend, weird weather on the Friday, darkest clouds Ive ever seen, almost like independence
day, was expecting the Alien craft to break through the clouds, epic weekend.[:D]

Can I play the disgruntled punter as everyone else seemed to think the event was great except me!

The club were parked on the outside of the circuit (no other clubs were) with the longest walk to either track crossing point possible. There was no provision for models to be parked in any sort of register order so it looked like a car park.

The infield parking included preferrential parking for replica/ kit car clubs such as GTM and Cobra replicas.

The layout of the trade stands was a jumble compared to last year. The Scarf and Goggles was gone meaning no central seating/ relaxing area (the small "fast food row" area was inadequate).

The BOGOF deal on tickets was still more expensive than if you participated in the classic run and they got a better parking spot and a couple of laps of the circuit.

Rant over, hope things improve next year!

To be fair this was, actually, the car park. [8|]

We were the only car Club to have it's own parking area as well as an infield display. If we didn't have the outfield spot it would have been general parking, obviously an option if anyone preferred it. The infield Club spots are a restricted size and therefore not open to all comers, unless you are a tiny Club like the NSXs.

There would have been no problem with parking the cars in Register order had there been people there to do it. We had enough volunteers to direct cars in, but that was about it. As always, it's the same few people on the team getting very little thanks for spending their Silverstone standing in the road wearing a high-viz.

Not a criticism, the regular volunteers do it because they have a huge laugh at every event. Just that a few more bodies would enable us to do a lot more. [:)]

Paul,
I wasn't criticising the club helpers, just the organisers. In the past we've always had a central area like the Ferrari club, Jaguar club et al!
cheers,
Richard
