Silverstone: Early 911 Register Parking?

Does anybody have any idea what's happening about Early 911 Register parking at Silverstone Classic. I understand there is a General Porsche parking area,
but what provision has been made for the Early Register cars, especially considering we have less security than the moderns.

Hi Mike . . .

As per other thread about this . . .

'To everyone who has bought a weekend ticket to silverstone quoting the PCGB reference, unfortunatly due to an error some of you may not have recieved your entire compliment of passes (Friday, Saturday & Sunday). Dont worry and if this is the case simply call Dan in the events dept on 01608 652911 and we can sort it out from there, if this is the case and you are still planning to attend on friday and have the pass then simply come to the Porsche Club village and we can hand out the extra passes needed for the rest of the weekend. '

Basically . .. try giving Dan a call on 01608 652 911. Not sure who Dan is . . . but god bless him.

Phil J

PS - Hope you managed to sort the parade laps out through the retrorun

Guys,i spoke to Dan earlier today , i dont know him either , cud not have been more helpful ....just bell him.

The tickets for the Classic and anniversary displays were sent out to the various Register Secretaries on Tuesday 17th July from club office. They were sent out to the Register Secretaries who had returned a list of their members who wanted to attend and for what day(s) they were going to be there. Unfortunately we have had no luck in contacting the present Register Secretary for the Early 911 Register so no tickets or passes were sent out, as none had been asked for ! In agreement with Tony Bull and I, Dan Winder who is dealing with the passes and display tickets was asked to keep back 25 passes and tickets per day for the Early 911'S. If you want to be part of the display or want to just park infield you should telephone Dan on 01608 652911 and ask him for the passes you need and get the one free ticket per car we have managed to get for you. If you have two people in your car then you will need to buy another ticket for your passenger by phoning the number shown in Porsche Post July edition page 15, (01327 857273) and quote the password CLAPCG. The tickets are one day tickets even for the weekend pass. Accommodation for the weekend is on the clubs website click on Silverstone Classic to find the list including campsites. The track Parades will be at 13.00pm each day. Finally can anyone tell me what has happened to the Early 911 Register Secretary??

Last login 04/07 - and I know he was intending to camp at Silverstone.

He's probably on holiday and/or a Business Trip?

I note the postings on the 'dark side' about early 911 car parking/displays at Silverstone being poorly organised, and feel a certain amount of guilt. As Philip T wasn't there I perhaps I should have done more to organise the parking . . . . (Nick did hint this to me at one point) . . . it's just that I was there to be part of the crowd (having had my fill of running round car parks waving at people).

I realise it wasn't great, but it wasn't that bad . . . I for one aren't too keen on cars in precise rows anyway as per the ferrari club . . . but I agree it could have been better. Please lets not kick up a fuss about it . . . it's over now, and I'm sure it will be better next year.

Phil

This was a fantastic event, and great to see so may early cars on the following trackday. The slightly disorganised parking means that we can do it much better next year, so let's show up all the other registers! A small group of us could get together to make sure it all happens, even if we don't have a Reg Sec.

Such a shame that a great event was spoilt by the lack of organisation due to the missing register secretary. He could have delegated responsibility, or asked for help and others would have stepped up to the plate months ago, in any event we made the best of it and hopefully this situation will not be allowed to happen again.

Poor turn out on the Friday. I was going to go for the whole weekend but lack on info, Silverstone ticket office getting my ticket order wrong so went on the Friday only, not many early cars, Autofarm had some nice cars there and VFS had mine for the weekend.
Anyone for Goodwood breakfast club this Sunday 5 August? or will I be Billy no Mates there?

There is a group of DDKs meeting at Petworth at 0800h on Sunday before a short blast to Goodwood and breakfast, see you there.

Please stop reading my mind , agree completely with ur comments ,our sec is very busy work wise as of course a lot of us become , but as u say several others could have stepped in if they had known the situation areturn call from California would have solved that ..........................

Hi Michael . . . saw your car there over the weekend with it's new paint (looked wonderful) . . . but wondered where you were . . . now I know. Friday was always going to be a quiet day.

Phil

Phil,

Got the work done at the begining of the year, new front wings, doors re-skinned, resprayed partially, front back to the start of the rear wings. Wind screen was out and was very good underneath the seal. Need a but of work still in the spare wheel well this winter. Got my next track day next week at Castle Combe. Did you enjoy the Silverstone track day?
