Having looked more into this I'm probably going along. Especially with the great deal on tickets the club have got. In case you didn't get the e-mail from Dave Wilkinson the details are:

Silverstone Supercar Race meeting 30th April, 1-2 May 2010 Porsche Club GB have again been invited to put on an infield display of our supercars to support the 2010 FIA GT race weekend which they call The Silverstone Supercar Event. This race meeting will feature action from Aston Martin, Corvette, Ferrari, Ford, Jaguar, Lamborghini, Maserati, Morgan, Nissan, Porsche, Saleen, and Viper as well as the F3 cars. They will be the first races to be held on the new 'Arena' Grand Prix circuit and will also be the first outing of the new Porsche GT3 R race car. The races will include the first round of the FIA GT1 world championship and the FIA GT2 & GT3 European championships as well as a round of the F3 championship.

In joining our display of all Porsche models, those who buy the specially discounted Club advance tickets will get infield parking in our "Display" area just behind the paddock. The tickets include free paddock access, free grandstand seats and free entry for children under 15. There will be a dedicated entertainment area as well as Automobillia and trade stands to go with the relaxed informal atmosphere they want to encourage. To be part of this event you will need to book and pay for your tickets in advance. You can order them from Club Office on 01608 652911 or Events@porscheclubgb.com and pay buy Credit/Debit card or by cheque. Alternatively direct from the Silverstone Booking Office on 0844 3278260, where you will need to quote the special Club Booking Code of SSCC . PCGB will charge £1 per booking fee, Silverstone ticket office will charge £4. Club office will acknowledge your booking and payment. The tickets and infield passes for your Porsche will be posted to you from Club Office about two weeks before the race. Those buying tickets after Friday 23rd April will need to contact the Silverstone ticket office and you may have to collect the tickets and infield passes at the gate. The tickets are valid for all three days Fri/Sat/Sun and are priced at £15 per person, ( the public weekend tickets are £26 per person in advance and £43 per person when bought on the day, at the gate). Even if you book Sunday only in advance it will cost £21 per person.

More details of the racing can be found on the Silverstone website:

Anyone else thinking of going along? [:)]

Thanks for putting that up on the forum Steve. I e-mailed the best part of 600 964 Register members but I guess there are always those who read the forum but not their e-mails!! I guess the forum is a bit more general too since you don't have to run a 964 to read the 964 Forum!!

It will probably come as no surprise that I'm intending being there. I'm not sure just at the moment which days I'll go but since it's little more than "round the corner" for me, I'll decide a bit nearer the time.

It just seems too good a deal to miss. I've no idea how Robin Walker does it but this one just seems too good to pass up. This is a weekend of stonking race action and Club activity like it should be - all for the price of a family meal at MacDonalds!!!

I hope to see lots of you there.

Regards

Dave

Dave, with a weekend ticket going for only £15 I'll probably pop along for a few hours late on Saturday morning and take in the whole day on Sunday. As you say there should be some stonking cars there including the new GT3 R [:)]

I'll be there, rude not to at that price [:D]

Will probably pop over for Friday afternoon and then either Sat or Sunday depending on a) the weather and b) when I'm allowed out to play [:)]

My 2 lads and I went last year sat/sun had a great weekend [:D]
Intend going again this year.

Hello Dave, I have a contact at Silverstone Circuits ltd who send me the info about special deals like this one. I like motor racing especially sports car racing and I think Porsche owners who have a similar interest should get special treatment when it comes to supporting the marque. So any opportunity to get infield parking should be taken to bring the owners closer to the sport. Our car park is seen by Silverstone as a side show or a "display" of supercars, have a look on the Silverstone Supercar website and you can see a picture of last years car park under the 'Entertainment' heading. Incidentally by booking via Club Office we can save members the booking fee charged by the ticket office. I will post the race programme when I get it. Thanks for your support.

Just ordered my tickets from the club office. Very easy to do and only a £1 booking fee regardless of home many tickets you buy [:)]

Sounds like a good deal to me so I shall be going to it,now,as I have a Targa that obviously leaks,if it's raining I'll go in the Boxster. Is this acceptable?

I've booked tickets, anybody know of any hotels nearby that they could reccomend? By the way if anyone phones Silverstone the number is 0844 372 8260.

Steve,

According to my Credit Card statement, Club Office charged the card on 9th April, so I'm assuming the tickets are on their way.

Regards

Dave

Guys,
I rang the club office to confirm as they were not on my latest statement (they just missed). The closing date is this friday and I think the tickets will get sent out after that?

The sale of tickets through Club Office will close at the end of the working day this coming Friday 16th April. On Monday 19th Club Office will block order and pay for all of the tickets you have ordered. When they are received at Club Office they will be posted to the address you have given or the members home address we have on file with an infield pass for the cars windscreen. You should receive your tickets and passes by the end of the week which is about one week before you need them. There will be an update in the next edition of Porsche Post (I hope) due out on Friday 23rd April. After then anyone who has not booked and paid through Club Office should phone the Silverstone Ticket line on 0844 3728260 and quote the reference "SSCC" to buy their tickets direct at the discounted price up to when the ticket office closes on Wednesday 28th April. They will be charged £4 handling charge per transaction. They will need to contact me on the number listed in May PP to get their infield pass at the gates when they arrive. It would be better all round if you can book them via Club Office on 01608 652911 before this Friday. See you at Silverstone, please bring some good weather!
