Beautiful car and owned by a well regarded Club veteran.

Got the impression that it was probably lost on most people browsing.
Most people don't know what it is, even members. Derek Bell still has the one he was given by Porsche when he was driving for them many years ago (he brought it along to the Brands Hatch national event last year).
They're very special cars indeed and this is Mr R Caesar's car... was privileged to have a very short drive of it at Silverstone[

And that was my recently sold 944 turbo cab and my red 924 turbo centre rear
You'd not long had the 944 turbo cab either, if my memory serves me well?
How we've all moved on, but still in the Porsche fold. I cchanged 944s, but still doing transaxle magazine shoots....how many in this shot?

Ah, the Eclat, what a forgotten Lotus. Haven't seen one in 20 or so years. Had a dream of owning an Elite 503 when a lad.

The Eclat (for the '70's) had a brilliant suspension/chassis layout and IS all round. The series 2 in the '80's being galvanised. Many make comparisons (price, desirability, British etc) with the TVR. Make no mistake, they are worlds apart when it came handling. When I featured as a reader's top 10 drive in the March CC magazine the TVR confirmed my belief - hairy but agricultural!
A bit off topic but the Elite/Eclat/Espirit were massive when it came to handling, just reliability caught them out a bit. This is where we all come full circle and end up with a Porsche when you just have to have performance and daily driver reliability.
Paul, how many GTS's were produced and still around today?

ORIGINAL: VITESSE
Marcus, always fancied an Eclat -generally seem to be silly money for such a great motor-last time I looked -around £4000 got you a good one.
I didn't think it was a transaxle so I would have answered to "he who knows everything"--2,but bound to be wrong.[&o]
It's a later Excel, so lots of Toyota bits underneath. You're right though: Alfa has the same layout as the 944, but the Excel is still 50:50 weight balance.
How many left?
944S2 - 1064
Excel - 406
GTV6 - 124

The last one I saw at the sadly extinct Woodvale car rally 3 yrs ago would have cost £4000 & it was immaculate in bright red-much better buy than one of those Ferrari lookalikes based on a 944 shell, which were on display.

Still trying to wear them out on the front-got part worn Dunlops now on the rear-the mean Lancastrian in me won't let me waste money-they are all right in the dry but I am trying hard to wear them away as in slight damp, they become a nightmare & don't match the car's cornering power.
Shall be back at Curborough on June 4th for another exciting day of hurling it around-have you been since they made the track figure 8 shaped-makes it quite involving with RH & LH cornering one after another plus the finishing long straight.Trouble is it's easy to forget what is coming next when is varied.
Had a good many PAX laps with Paul Ward in his race 968 at the Oulton Park RS trackday-it's bl**dy quick[
