I'm attending the Track Day at silverstone next Wednesday, first one in a 911 (997C2S).
What Tyre presures should I use?
What tyre wear should I expect?
Did a couple of TrackDays in my E46 M3 and experienced lots of wear to the outer edge of the front tyres.
Love the car, really looking forward to it, hope the rain stops away!

Check the pressures when hot, probably 32 would be good go out do a few laps the check as rear tyre pressure build up on 911s can be important.....see you there my 1st day of the year ....

Best of luck and enjoy the car..[:)]

A similar post in the track day section (towards the lower part of the main page) may encourage a few more responses and suggestion.[:D]

Sorry I can't help further, I know quite a few 997 owners do track their cars, I'm sadly not one of them [:(]

I will be at Silverstone in my Cobalt blue 997TT. I hope to set up camp in a garage towards the end of the pit lane (near pit exit) as the centre garages get too crowded. How about a 997 get together?

My experience is that a number of factors will affect tyre wear on a track day, how you drive, how new the tyres are (the newer they are the faster they wear) etc. I use Michelin Sport Cups on my car and drop the pressure to 2.1bar cold 2.3 hot all round but these tyres have a stiffer side wall so dont recommend you going that low for normal road tyres. If it were me I would start at normal pressure and then drop them a little once you are into the swing of the day. Make sure you take the pressures back up again before you go home on the road though. If you push your 997 reasonably hard you will find the tyres wearing/scuffing on the shoulder if you have standard suspension set up.

32 front 36 back for me, but that needs a couple of laps + bleeding. By the way I will be there (lhd black) with a Parr setup for the 1st time + lower springs, should be interesting!
