Hi folks,
Did a trackday at Silverstone last Friday with the Elise and had a bit of a scrap with three Porsches. It was interesting to see them being driven in anger!

Chap next to me in the paddock had a tidy 964 C2 so we went out for a showdown. I tagged on behind him for a few laps then started to press a bit and saw him starting to get out of shape until he finally lost the back end and spun off. Lotus 1 Porshe 0 [:)]

Next up was a Cayman S. Got behind him for a few laps and there was absolutely nothing in it. He had a bit more grunt on the straights but I was back with him in the corners. Lotus 1 Porsche 1 [:D]

Next up was a 996 GT3 RS- not a cat in hells chance against that!!! Lotus 0 Porsche 1 []

The Porsches really do perform but seem to be heavy on everything as they are a strong, heavy, powerful piece of kit. I was talking to a chap with a 996 C4 similar to mine and he had just pulled in with overheating brakes.

I should imagine that brakes, tyres and fuel really take a hammering on track with the Porsches- glad I aren't paying for them!!

All in all the Elise did well against the competition- not bad for a fibreglass boat with a bog standard 120hp Rover k series!!

I can really recommend trackdays to anyone who is interested. The atmosphere is fantastic and there are loads of different performance cars there to look at and have a go at on track- some you 'win' some you dont.
It is a great adrenaline rush as well and it takes your mind off everyday pressures as you need to be totally focussed to get the best out of the car.

Don't know if I would want to risk the 911 on there but if you fancy it have a go, you are sure to love it!!!
