SIM card for Connect Plus - 3 month trial due to end

Hi all,

I got a 3 month trial SIM from EE with my 718 and it's due to expire today. I've called EE and they have no record of the SIM card at all so I can't continue with it.

I know it's not a 911 question but no one on the Cayman forum seems to know so I thought I'd ask here.

Can I just replace it with a standard SIM-only SIM or do I need a specific one for data use in a car?

I'm thinking of going with GiffGaff for £10 a month for 2GB data, anyone know any better?

Thanks,
Richard.

I have found the GiffGaff £5 gigabit package big enough for traffic updates checking the odd petrol price and google earth. If you search online and stream music to the car I guess you would need more

I also have the GiffGaff £5 per month package which works fine and seems more than adequate for day to day stuff. However if you want to update the maps, you'd better use another connection as that won't be enough. I'm not sure the £10 package would be sufficient either. I'm lucky that my garage is close enough to my house to be able to connect to my home WiFi for the major downloads.

Cheers

Look at 3,s offer 12gb data only sim pack valid for 12 months, using this at present in my gen 2 4S,
was previously around £20 but offered now at £24.95 one off payment .

Thanks for the info, I'll have a look into these. This leads me on to a few quick questions though:

1. Do I just replace the SIM card or do I need to activate it online and link to the car?
2. How do you connect the car to home wifi To download maps? Does the sim card have to come out for that?
3. How do I know when the maps need updating? Does the car tell me?
4. Is there a difference in SIM only cards? Do I just need a data one for cars or can a normal SIM only deal do the same thing? It confuses me when they offer minutes and texts, I'll obviously not need that.

Thanks for for the help.

Thanks,
Richard.

Good deal but I can't seem to find this one. I can see 'Broadband PAYG + 12' but that costs £40. Is that the same one?

Try this link on Amazon
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01CMD4VKC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1

£28, now there is a 2 week waiting list.

I purchased this myself to replace my EE sim which had expired. You just have to insert it, should be already activated. For map updates etc, I change the PCM setting to access my mobile phone hotspot which has 25GB of data every month. You will find that 1 Gb of data per month is sufficient for normal day to day driving.

I have just updated my maps to the 2017/2018, just for the UK only. You will have to go to the PCM and then look for updates.

Try these people ,i always use them for all my simcards they are showing stock at the moment at £24.95.
